Interestin! FERO! seems like people either hate him or love him, nothing in between. I have first hand experience with a Fero son out of a Gildo daughter. Very fast, strong Obedience. Protection O.K. but nerves...well not what I like to see. Also worked another fero son. Very solid nerves, Strong tracking, fast Obedience and very powerful protection. Calm and very strong grips, long bite was like a rocket. had a Yoschy son that really had TRUE fight drive. A dog with solid nerves, very social, but yet as soon as you send him to the blind his work was unbelievable. So it goes either way. But you cannot deny the fact that Fero had as much of an impact (bad or good) on the G.S. as Bernd. Some will disagree with that. So I look forward to everybodys response with their experience with Fero Progeny.

Does anyone ever concider the female side of all of this??? you cannot put all the good and bad things solely on the stud, the variables are too great genetically not even concidering training and environment. Certain combinations have been proven to be good and bad and some unlikely combinations ended up being fabulous. you cannot lay it solely on Fero's shoulders, it is a very uneducated assumption.

Quest, looks like you did not really look at the link. It does list influential females as well. Plus other lines. But females will never quite have as much influence in the greater scheme of things because of lack of numbers in terms of their offspring. Certainly there are several very influential females. Afra, Askia, Umsa, Queen... You cannot deny though that this particular dog and his lineage has been producing very strong and also consistently over several generations. Most of what comes out of these lines, regarless of the many different females used, does rest on his shoulders. You may like him or not. According the stats more people do than do not. Popular is what works. In 2000 less than 20% of the BSP dogs had Fero blood. In the last two years it has averaged at roughly 60%. Interesting that a higher percentage of dogs were line bred to Greif rather than Fero. Even more had no line breeding at all. Actually I find that more interesting than the percentage of Fero blooded dogs competing. Another interesting aspect would be to actually have a look what combination of these top lines performed well. Such as some people are strictly against Fero x Mink, while other swear by it... Overall it is very hard to give an opinion on a producer on just one or two of the offspring one may have had an experience with. Every litter produces pups with very different attributes and talents, and not every character clicks with the new owner. A different pick pup may have produced a completely different experience. But, popular is what works. It seems that for the majority of serious SchH sport enthusiasts the Fero lines bring the results they need to compete at the top. Until something better comes along anyways :o). Thanks Kyle for posting this.

Hello schutzhund friends and thanks for your thoughts on the data. Thanks to Zwinger (kennel) Stenzenacker for posting the information. You folks are right, you either love or hate Fero. I think that it is interesting that Fero can appear one time in a pedigree, in the 3rd or 4th generation and whatever issues the dog has some folks attribute it to Fero blood. I have had the Fero conversation with a few reputable and well known trainers. They believe not enough trainers know how to train dogs with percieved nerve issues that come down thru Fero. You folks have stated it correctly that there are different temperments within a litter let alone thru different Dams. Kyle
