Now let's not get carried away folks! The only REAL Siegerschau (and Worldchampionship) is the one in Germany, this year held in Ulm as you all know, where approximately 250 males and 215 females were judged. (I will only be giving numbers for: Gebrauchshundeklasse/Trabajo to enable comparison) Now the other "Sieger"-Shows, worthy of that name, are held in: Italy: 49 males, 47 females = 96 doggies Austria: 45 males, 27 females = 72 Belgium: 28 males, 43 females = 71 Holland: 26 males, 40 females = 66 (Should I have forgotten important shows, please forgive me, but one could not find traces proving they would be important enough to mention. You can ad this info on the board. I will castigate myself for my mistake, should I have missed any big show of the caliber of the ones mentioned. I did not intend to hurt anyone.) Please note, that these are in fact "international" shows and not merely national competitions, which means the level is very high (understatement). Larus von Batu (and I will not explain who he is) was shown in Austria and wan the Austrian title. Orbit vom Hühnegrab came to Belgium and wan the Belgian Sieger title, etc. Talking about the level of competition! (Note: Orbit and Pakros will duell next year for the Sieger title, Scheerer will not judge. He would lose a fortune.) It is still a question to me, why the SV has not handled their German Champions with another title than "Sieger" or gave them another qualification than just the "VA" = Vorzüglich Auslese-definition. I wish they would offer another definition, like VAD1 (VAD2, VAD3,...) for instance = Vorzüglich Auslese Deutschland 1, ...". It is funny to place the names of a VA1 USA or a VA1 Pakistan (no offence) at the side of the VA1 Deutschland. A very misleading comparison indeed. Merely ventilating an opinion! Go ahead, now shoot me again, I wasn't dead yet.

It has become a rule that all countries have their VA dogs (should the judge decide to give VA title). I see nothing wrong with that. Now, VA from Germany is something in a class of its own and must be ragarded differently than VA from any other country. We all value German VA title as the ultimate one, don't we.

by SGBH on 21 October 2005 - 15:10

We do. I do.

You have to realize however, when puppy sales time comes, and the sire or dam is VA, the price goes up in America. The unsuspecting consumer does not know German VA from Bumfrick VA, he only knows he is getting the best! And of course only certain kennels will ever put out that VA quality of dog(Big Eye Wink)
