I posted my male on the GSD database last year, He has several siblings whom I have found pictures of and at least one who has gained some conformation ratings. I would really like to see his siblings posted onto the database so that others who may be looking at my dog can also see his siblings but they haven't yet, I am wondering what are the protocols on putting a dog into the database, can only the owner of the dog do it, or is it generally accepted for anyone to do it? I have contacted one owner of one of his siblings but haven't heard back yet (this was 3 weeks ago), found 2 more online but been unable to find a way to contact he owners. in case someone is wondering why I'm wanting to see these dogs posted...yes this is my first personal dog and I'm just being a proud mommy who wants to show off every aspect of him including the siblings, lol.

Nothing wrong with posting dogs that do not belong to you into this website, so long as you are accurate with ALL the information, or only put what information you know to be true and correct. :) If there is negative information about the dog, I would let the owners choose to post or not post.

I disagree. It may not be 'against the rules'...but if it's not your dog, I don't feel you have the right to post it. How do you know the owners even WANT their dog posted on the net? I understand you are proud of your dog and have every right to be! But in my opinion, I would wait until you had the permission of the other owners to do so.

I highly doubt that the owners of dogs that were bred years back are around to post their dog's pedigree/photo. If we went by your point of view, soothersmaylive, half of the dogs that people have put in here (that are accurate!!) would not be here to complete many, many pedigrees. Also, having the dog's name posted is not a huge problem. You can look any German SV registered dog up on the net via the SV website or AKC registered dog on the AKC website, etc, anyway. It's nice to have access to that information, and get a complete pedigree, so long as it's accurate. This is just MHO. :)
