I have a SV registered female that is from a German showline kennel. I would like to determine what shows she participated in and any awards/entitlements (and in what class) she achieved. Is there an online database or some other resource available? I understand that to get her pink papers she needed at least G or better in the ring - how do I track down what she was awarded? She was listed in the pedigree database by her previous owner - but her working title (Schh3) was not up to date and there were no entitlements listed. Also, how does one verify a dogs breed survey? I know she has her lifetime - but would like to verify it. Thanks, -Calvin

I understand that to get her pink papers she needed at least G or better in the ring . Sounds like you have been taken for a ride, my friend. You can get the "pink papers" registration/pedigree, simply by paying for the dog and having the owner sign the transfer section of that paperwork. You can get the papers on a puppy as young as 8 weeks old, which surly has no show experience. The new registration/pedigrees have a special section that denotes titles and the endurance(AD) exam. If she is a older female a small book with that information should accompany the "pink papers" when you bought her. As you explain this situation in your post, is not the process in which you get the papers for the dog. It is a little late, but those are questions you get satisfied BEFORE you buy the dog. Stephen

I should have done more due-diligence prior to purchasing the dog - without going into the details I'm now pulling the pieces together after the fact. My "G" comment was from an article I found online. According to what I've found online you can't even get pink papers (from the SV) until the dog has been breed surveyed for life. My male (only KKL) who is only 3 came with blue papers. Actually, how do I determine his breed survey? I did not receive a report with him… So basically, to be bred (she has her lifetime breed survey) she does not have to have a show rating of G? Regardless, is there any way to determine if she ever was shown and if so what she received, if any entitlement was awarded? I've got her scorebook, but it only details her schutzhund scores. Thanks, -Calvin

paper type of a pup (pink, white...) is determined by the parents' accomplishments. if your dog was still in germany and bred & whelped there, HER accomplishments (breed survey, show rating, titles) would impact the type of papers her PUPS would have. of course, the sire's accomplishments also factor into what type of papers the pups will have. hope this is helpful. as stephen mentioned, you should have received her scorebook, breed survey results, registration papers etc at purchase time. if you only got a scorebook, maybe she has never been shown or surveyed.

If the dog is from Germany the blue form is only the KKL report, not the dogs registration papers. The report is on the left hand inside page at the bottom of the KKL report form. If the dog has been shown, it should have come with show cards (Bewertungsausweis), which are yellow and list the dogs particulars, date of the show, where shown, which class and which rating the dog got there. Sometimes if a dog changes hands a few times these get lost. Not a big deal really. If the dog is KKLd the dog has the show rating and you can get that info from the SV. With all the events going on there at the moment expect delays in response time. After mid October it will be better. The papers should have been sent with the dog unless there was a valid reason not to. Contact the persons(s) you bought the dogs from to get the papers sent to you (registered mail), with the last owner having signed the dog over to you on the last page and your name entered as new owner. If papers have been lost, no need to panic! Ask the seller to have the last owner fill out a transfer of ownership form (Eigentumswechsel) and sent to the SV, with a copy to you for your own records. A fax will suffice. Once the SV has you registered as owner of a dog you can get duplicate papers from the SV. A german bred GSD has pink papers if both parents were breed surveyed, and all 4 grand parents were titled. If any of the parent/grand parent generation does not meet these criteria the resulting pups get white papers. White papers pose no restrictions on the individual dog, other than that it cannot be VA titled, which should be of no concern to you from the sound of it. If you have problems in getting the paperwork concact me privately to discuss the options you have. I have assisted several people in the past with this.

Thanks for the help everyone. Part of all of the confusion is that there is a steep learning curve with all of this. The language barrier doesn't help either - somehow I got this idea that dogs lifetime suitable for breeding had pink papers and dogs only breed surveyed for 2 years got blue. As it turns out the "blue paper" was the breed survey report for one of my dogs. This a confusing pastime - but I'm finally starting to understand what is going on. Thanks, -Calvin
