I feel that using such a large test group 2717, lowered the % of the GSD. The lower the number of the group gives it a better chance of a high % http://atts.org/statistics.html

Yes, although if only one dog was tested and passed, such as the Estrela Mountain dog, they would have a 100% pass rate, it is more accurate to have a large number of animals and take that percentage of pass/fail as in the case of the GSD. They probably should have had equal numbers of each breed tested for scientific data collection and so that the statistics could be significant. Also the same number of bitches vs dogs and taken from the same areas. We all know that a sound GSD with a good temperament is the best dog to have. Also, there are unsound dogs out there who can have bad temperaments or are just unstable. It is good for any breed enthusiast or owner to be aware of this and maybe when buying a dog, they will not be unjustly lead by the 100% temperament rating of 1 dog instead can take a look at the breed as a whole. Likewise, if only one GSD was tested and it failed, what would that say for the breed?
