Sita is coming into her second heat right now (3rd day). She has all of a sudden become agressive to all male dogs - except Hero who's too young (I hope). She wants to kill any male dog that comes within reach. She is moody, doesn't want to work as much as usuall. She is also less tolerant of the rest of her pack.

Is this normal?

yep, called PMS:)
Hero isn't a threat to  her cause he is soo young,  she knows that and tolerates him.

She tried to take the head off of male that walked by her at practice this past Saturday, Luckly I had a good hold of her leash.................She is such a bitch right now. What else can I expect?

Hero is 7 1/2 months, is he truly too young? Or just not interested in her as of yet?

Mine gets bitchy with females, playful with the males.    Acts like a puppy around me wanting to be played with.
7 1/2 is not to young, maybe its just too soon.

On what day of her heat should I consider seperating Sita and Hero.

I usually separate mine right away just to keep the male from getting all worked up.   I'm not breeding the young male I have to either of my females yet so I don't want to take any chances.

no 7 1/2 isn't too young.
I had a 5 month old chow breed and make pups, so it is possible.  he might have no interest though.   or maybe he is too young.  I have females who will bother a nuetered male all day long,  but will eat an intact male up.

Watch her inside,  she may want to scent in the house around the other dogs, or she may tear stuff up when she otherwise wouldn't.

Sita doesn't want to play as much as usual and Hero is frustrated that his favorite chew toy is grumpy. Hero's now giving one of our spay females most of his attention. So far he isn't even a bit interested. At conformation class last week, a female was in heat, the other adult male dogs were having a time of it, and Hero didn't seem to notice anything, he didn't even want to smell her. I'm hoping he's too young this time around.

5 months, wow, I would have never guessed.

we are already carpet-less, and the tile man isn't supposed to come for another 10 days......(still a backlog from the hurricane) so if she marks anything it can be easily fixed. She is chewing on stuff a bit more lately.......especially sticks and paper towels. I bought a dog proof kitchen trash can and am watching her much more closely when she's outside.

if all the other female dogs are spay will she still consider marking?

Hero is waking up.........he is starting to act like a big boy.......I have to keep them in seperate rooms..........

If Sita is in her crate, Hero keeps on trying to get in........gotta hand it to the boy, he is presistant......

We're playing musical dogs right now.

In a year Hero and Sita will both be titled and certifited and getting the little bitch knocked up will be a good thing.....but not until they are both proven

Close call yesterday.

Sita is now moving her tail out of the way every time Hero is close to her crate. Sita will sneak off and sit next to his crate......

My kid let both dogs out at the same time, 15 year olds are sometimes brain dead.

Hero was jumping on Sita, but has no idea what he's doing.......and good thing too. As I ran to grab the dogs and separate them, Sita was actually under Hero and backing up to him.........I got there in time and all was overt-ed...........

Neither dog has had their hips/elbows certified and they are not yet titled, so we do not want them breeding yet.

How many days does this heat last, if already feels like is been a month......(sorry for the whine) I just want our home to be back to normal again..
