My dog was pretty weak in the pasterns and what seemed to work the best, was lots of walking on uneven ground. We dont walk him on the street anymore, all walks are through open fields, bush and tall grass. He is much better now than when we got him. Hope it helps.

Some friends of mine had a couple of GSD bitches, aged 4 and 2 who had not only flat pasterns, but the flattest feet I have ever seen, they were like spread hands.  They moved to a house by the sea and had a courtyard of very large shingle, like cobblestones only loose, where the dogs spent most of their time.  I visited them 6 months or so later and was amazed to see the dogs feet had tightened up beyond belief and the pasterns also much improved, so maybe it would be worth trying a run for them floored with large cobble type stones.  I think it is more effective if the cobbles were in an area where they spent quite a bit of time. rather than trying to walk them in a cobbled area.

Hi,
Possibly  the lack of calcium ,could also be a contributing  factor.
Walking on loose pebbles, running on the beach ,along the waterline
and swimming will help.
