Hey guys, I have a question about my German Shepherd pups height/weight. He is 21 weeks now, or just now about to turn 5 months.  When you're measuring his height what do you go by? He weighs 38 lbs, but he is pretty skinny, and could pick up 3 or 4 lbs and still be healthy.  Is he average in his weight, or below it?  He just seems kind of on the small side to me. His dam weighs about 76 lbs, and shes a German import. His sire weighs about the same, but he is pretty tall.  I'll try to post pictures, but I'm not exactly sure how.

He is nearly 1/2-way grown and sounds perfectly normal to me. There is nothing wrong with the dog even if he barely attains the minimum size of the adult standard. His dam sounds a bit large, but without other physical measurements known the weight is just part of the equation. Remember, medium size is the correct size.

Best Regards,

Thanks guys, I just wasn't sure. The dam isn't tall, just very muscular, and very healthy.  I was just wondering on that because I raised this litter, and when his brother left for his new home he got up to 25 lbs at around 10 weeks I think. He was a pretty big boy. I haven't gotten another picture of him yet, so I'm not sure how big he is now. Hah, my pups ears sure are trying though. Half of the time his ear tips are behind his ears, but lately they have started standing occasionally for a few minutes at a time.
