You are missing the point. i am one of the few that actually show and work dogs. most of the dogs in the show and working rings shouldn't be bred. im just simply saying compare bitework to bitework. also the sport is designed for anyone who wants to compete can. with or without a dog that is breedable.

You are absolutely correct Suzie! Both sides need to pay more attention to both sides of our dogs. ie: work and conformation. I have both wl and sl and do many combinations to improve both. So I understand how important it is.
The reason I posted the stats was to show a well trained dog, EVEN National SchH/IPO competition dogs fail! It does not matter what phase. They were supposedly trained to compete at a national level and failed. This is normal to have some, who for some reason were not themselves and did not measure up that day and some that just do not have what it takes. The point is NOT arguing about the actual competition, the point is, there will always be some failure and this year the show dogs did much better than previous years. Because of that, there is no call for a comments like "Look at all the insufficients". No one says that about any other national competition!!!! That's not to say there isn't room for improvement even with the improvement exhibited! There is always a need for that!
Why be so negative!!?? Why not go for encouragement rather that cutting down others?! Look for the good to encourage and promote. Yes there are still some out there that don't care about work/conformation and there probably always will be, but there are more every year that seem to care about both. Why not point out the show dogs that ARE competing nationally and doing well? Why not point out the working dogs that have V conformation? Support and encourage them and give them the positive attention they deserve, rather than belly aching about the worst or those that tragically failed when on a different day would have done well.

I only said, that, as soon as you compare the bitework of a Siegershow with the bitework of the Nationals you need to compare the show ratings of these dogs, too.
Truth is: Some, maybe a lot of the showline dogs don´t deserve there SchH ratings ( they get them because the judges try to support outstanding standard )
but on the other hand-
some, maybe a lot of the working line dogs don´t deserve there show/breed survey ratings ( they get them because the judges try to support outstanding working ability )
This behavior is understandable, but doesn´t help the breed. As long as the majority of the breeder only looks at one side nothing will change.

As long as a German Shepherd will work effortlessly, faithfully, and courageously, I have no problem with show or sport......but if they won't....then I really don't care what the Sch score says, or the conformation judge, or the KK rating....hey but that's just me.

I don´t either...but most people look at results only, go for "champions" - or worse - sons of champions - without knowing anything about the dog and his agenda
