I have always wormed my puppies with strongid.  I have been comtemplating trying Safeguard goat wormer.   I know that on adults it is given 3-5 days in a row but not sure about puppies. (Now 5wks old)

I would love to have feedback from those who use SG on puppies, and if they worm just once every 2wks, or of they worm several days in a row, than repeat every two weeks after.

I worm my puppies alternately with the pyrantel pamoate so it's first worming pyrantel pamoate, second worming 5 days SG
, 3rd pyrantel pamoate and 5 days SG right before they go home.

BTW, apparantly the SG tastes awful (as per puppies trying to get away and spit the stuff out vs. sucking the pyrantel down)
and it gets EVERYWHERE!! LOL

Safeguard works great. 1ml per 5lbs for 3 days in a row. You can also worm mom with the safeguard paste. You must be careful not to give to much to the pups and mom.

I always buy the DOG SafeGuard and feed it with my kids' kibble and they eat it right down. It's in powder form, but I combine it with Vitagravy or canned food and my puppies/adult dogs have NEVER had a problem.

In MY opinion it is much easier to correctly worm the dog with the correct dosage when it's measured out in LBS on the box than it is trying to guess with CCs. Someone I know uses SafeGuard for goats with great success, and that's great for him, but I'll just pay extra and KNOW that I am correctly dosing my kids. I say if the SafeGuard for goats works for ya, go for it, I'm not that confident enough to try it with CCs so I actually PREFER the powdered form, that's premeasured

If your going to use the Safeguard Goat Wormer, the proper dose is 0.6 cc (ml) per 25# of body weight.
