I never post, always just lurk, but this is a message to a breeder who needs a lesson in courtesy and honesty. If someone gives you a deposit for a male pup, and that pup turns out not to have any testicles, and you void the sale; then wouldn't the wise and moral thing to do be to return the deposit? Or at the very least return all of the buyer's calls and emails?? A deal is a deal. You once tried to renege on a deal you made with me, and now you have burned a friend of mine. Is this a pattern with you? Your kennel name is PURPOSELY not mentioned here.....yet.

Konigtum, Blast him on this board if need be,everybody makes mistakes, If a breeder is purposely screwing you then they deserve it I have a kennel In Serbia that is rapidly running out of time before I trash his name with all I got.He has owed me about $1400 USD for a few months now and I'm tired of excuses. Your right, it is a small world and the internet makes it even smaller...Hammertime.....Nothing wrong in telling the truth. Some may agree with me and some may not but you need to do what you need to do.Good luck and stay away from this clown in the future.

did he offer you a replacement pup. I had this happen with a male pup and gave the owner the option to either take this pup knowing he will have to be neutard or waiting till the next litter. They went ahead and took this pup because they were planning on fixing him anyway so it didn't matter. but if you were told that deposits are nonrefundable, then you knew that you wouldn't get that money back.?? You know...this is only one reason that I refuse take deposits on our puppies. All I want is a good faith promise to take care of the puppy for the balance of it's life, or sell it back to me if your situation changes and you can no longer handle the dog. This is not a perfect world and for whatever reason the buyer does not have a puppy in his/her hand, or is not satisfied with our arrangement, why would I want to have his/her money in my pocket? At eight weeks of age you come and pay for your puppy, in full and take it home with you. If you decide to back out of the deal at the last minute, no problem, you have your money and I have my puppy. I could never undestand taking money from someone, without giving them something in return.

Konigtum, My sentiments accord with Charlie Ivory. Het, What's this business of accepting 'replacement pup'(what! whatever the Breeder decides to off-load!) without prior agreement? SGBH, Wish more Breeders had your attitudes!

SGBH, Your deposit to me is a good faith gesture, that you found the dog/pup that you want and are no longer looking. It also is taking a dog/pup that I could be possibly selling off the market because of your deposit.I'm not a selfish person,I had a lady come to me to look at a litter I had on the ground, the pups were $1000 each. She and her you daughter were upset as their home had been broken into and items stolen.I suggested she purchase an adult dog and she still wanted a puppy.Made no sense to me but on with the story..They left to think about it, ended up calling before they got home saying they wanted the puppy.Tey came back the next day and if you can beleive this had no money other then $50 cash, wanted to know if they could take the puppy and make payments on it,against my better judgement I agreed and she was to pay $50 per week, I had to call and tell her I was comming over to repo the dog because I had not received her 1st payment, she came the very next day with a check, which promptly bounced because the account had been closed.......lol... You have to admire people with balls......Any way, according to her there was a mistake (me giving her the dog) at the bank. needless to say it was a nightmare to get the rest of my money.......sowhy did I even go into that......I really don't know....lol.A lot of people by on impulse, buy a dog they can not afford, reall don't want, not ready to make a 14 year commitment. If your not into taking Dep then don't put the pups up for sale til they can come, pick it out and take it home......

Het, actually the breeder contacted my friend and said SHE was unable to send the pup because it had no testicles. She agreed to refund the deposit. After several efforts at communication, from my friend to the breeder, which had gone unanswered for months, my friend told me about it. As I mentioned before- I had previously had some dealings with this breeder, and had I known my friend was dealing with her- I would have given my friend a "heads up". However, as the subject of my post indicates- this is a SMALL WORLD, and things don't take long to get around. As this breeder posts here regularly- I would hope she would be compelled to do the right thing.

Charlie Ivory: Don't misunderstand me. I do not find fault with those that take deposits. I do not think that because you take deposits, that you are wrong or greedy. I make or imply no accusations. I just don't do the deposit thing, because for ME it is the path of least resistance, not to do so. It is just a personal choice. I don't consider my choice superior or better than another person's. This is just how I do things, and they seem to work for me.

SGBH, I understand, no offense or anything takenI find it funny how everyone and their brother want a pup but as soon as they are here the back peddling starts...lol. i find that more with locals I deal with more then anything.......

by SGBH on 29 October 2004 - 04:10

Charlie Ivory, I run a standing waiting list and every litter, there are 2 or so people that back down, for whatever reason and do not want the puppy, and I just proceed down the waiting list, where there is usually a person, that steps up and takes the puppy and is happy to get the dog.
