Hi there,
My 4 months pupp woke up today with what seemed to me a little cough, depsite that he was pretty normal, good mood, playful, normal appetite and didn´t seem to tire itself more than usual with his normal 1 hour morning ride.
Right now i´m at work and can´t help being worried although the fact he is being closely watched by my husband. He took his rabbie shot last tuesday, never had any health concerns before. Can this be some kind of adverse reaction to the vaccine?
Hope it´s only a little flue...Thinking on taking him to the vet this afternoon, just in case...
This is my loved fellow

Rabies shot at four months? My vet refuses to do them until 6, four is too young.

GSDguy08 , here the rabbie protocol says that the shot must be given between 120 and 150 days old, what means 4 to 5 months...so here it´s pretty normal to administrate the shot at this age.

Hi Yuuki.
I work in a vet clinic your pup could have picked up kennel cough or a upper respiratory is going around and no they are not the same virus .

It is likely your pup picked up kennel cough from the vet. It should resolve on it's own but it takes awhile and sometimes it sounds like they are going to cough up a lung. If you take him back to the vet you are sure to get abx which I really don't like to give unless necessary. If you do give the abx then give a probiotic also. Pretty puppy

Call your vet, they can provide treatment and most likely will do so for free, if they are honest and believe your dog became sick from being in their office. At least that is what happened to me. And yes, the coughing sound for kennel cough is ungodly and unsettling.

4 mals2sheps, i also thought about kennel cough and tonsilitis. Until now he hasn´t cough since this morning...but we remain attentive to prompt response

yuuki,
If the cough gets worse I personally would see your vet but if its a small once in a while cough keep an eye (ear) on it .If your pup seems lethargic or just not Him/Her self then I would also take in.Hope this helps .

Echo Echo and 4 mals2shep,
I will do as you both said, don´t like the idea of giving him meds if not absolutly necessary. He has basic obedience training scheduled for sunday, i think it´s better to cancel it, don´t want him to catch cold and probably other dogs will be there too, altought it´s just a guess, better play safe...
