After many months of correspondence with them concerning this matter the CKC will now accept to register in Canada dogs from the RSV2000 registry in Germany.

Here are the conditions:

“The CKC Board of Directors approved a motion to accept all pedigrees certified by Verband fur das Deutsche Hundewesen (VDH) e.V. which are ‘counter signed’ by VDH in cases where the dogs are exported.  What this means is that in order to be eligible for registration the proper certified pedigree from RSV2000 must be accompanied by an annex from VDH, confirming the new owner in the country of which the dog is exported to.”

Hope this is useful information for my fellow Canadians.

So could a dog be imported to Canada, receive CKC papers, then be imported to US for AKC papers?

mfh27,

I imagine it would be acceptable but don't take my word for it. Better someone in USA get on AKC's case and get them (AKC) to accept RSV2000 registry.

Koach, can you give some example of your communication
with the CKC in regards to accepting the RSV registration?

We have been discussing perhaps purchasing our next pup
from one of the breeders that are active in the RSV, it is one
option of a select few we are considering, but still plenty of
time before we pull the trigger on another pup.

Since we don't breed, we don't really have an issue with
'needing' AKC papers, but, it would limit us to just doing
working trials, no breed survey etc. And that is something
we enjoy doing with all our dogs.

And congratulations on achieving success with the CKC
on this!

Workingdogz,

As I intended on possibly purchasing my next dog from RSV2000 (because I like what they are trying to do for the breed) I first wrote CKC and asked if I could register a RSV2000 registered pup in Canada. They said "no" that they only recognize the SV as the legitimate breed book for GSD out of Germany. I then sent a copy of their answer to Helmut Raiser. He worked through the influence of the VDH in Germany. It took some time to get it done but now that the process is completed I think that the recognition by AKC should be quicker. Give it a try, somebody has to. Actually maybe a group request would be more effective. Don't hesitatee to involve Helmut in the process.
Good luck,

For the unwashed...what's the relationship between VDH and SV.

Workingdogz... let me know when you want to "hound" akc....lol. I think its critical to get this done or we are going to lose "valuable" working kennels to purchase from. I've been considering mainieche myself and I know they are with rsv2000.

guddu , there is no special relation between SV and VDH

VDH is FCI recognized kennelclub of germany

pedigrees in germany are given out by the breedclubs , so any breedclub that is VDH registered can give out FCI rcognized pedigrees

in this system the SV has the same rights as the RSV2000
