I did email Kandi & the owner to see what's up. Is this normal to find something like this in the classified section?
Nym vom Kleinen Teich

dog: German Shepherd Dog
3-02-2008

Id: 1571536

Owner: Acushnet, MA
508-998-3004
kleinen@comcast.net
Christine Gaumont

Name: Nym

Age: Young

Sex: Male

Size: Large
Nym vom Kleinen Teich was born on Jan. 5, 2007 by Hawk vom Eichenluft. He is very outgoing, social, and loves people. He is also very energetic and would do great with an owner that is interested in training him in canine agility, obedience, or entry-level schutzhund. He would also do fine in a very active family home due to his very sound temperament. Heh as been imprinted with motivational obedience, beginning tracking work, and has been extensively socialized with people and other dogs. His hips are prelimed, OFA good, and his elbows are rated normal.

It doesn't look like Kandi is the owner.  Here is Christine's website and it looks like she is the breeder.  http://vomkleinenteich.com/

No it's not normal to sell dogs on Petfinder.  It is for dogs in need of adoption that have been spayed/neutered.

OMG--the woman is a veterinarian!

No it's not normal to sell dogs on Petfinder.

Heavens, no! Petfinder is loosely affiliated with USUS, PETA, and Animal Planet--and other AR groups that promote MSN legislation!

Has anyone contacted the breeder or Molly about this?

by eichenluft on 04 March 2008 - 06:03

thanks for the heads-up.  I am not the owner of Hawk nor the breeder of this dog.  Kandi is the owner of Hawk, but not the breeder of this dog - apparently the breeder of the dog is the person advertising him on Petfinder - very surprising to see him there - but maybe she is just trying to find him a good home?  The classifieds section of Petfinder is there for private individuals looking to place their own dogs.  I wouldnt' personally put one of my dogs there but have put some of my rescue dogs there.   Apparently the owner is the breeder and they are just trying to find a good home for him.  Don't know why Petfinder would be necessary, seems like a really nice dog.

I know for a fact that the breeder is  just trying to find this dog a suitable home and I also know she is not one to use the PC much and I guess petfinder  was a reasonable choice. I can assure you that she will screen any one that is interested in the dog . So just in case this will be blown out of proportion  ( which happends alot on this site )   I felt I better step in .

The breeder used to be a very good friend of mine and is a reputal breeder  and she put's a lot of work into her dogs  she has many HOT dogs to her credit !!

Yes, she is his breeder, and a veterinarian.....actually the dam's littermate to the Hawk son advertised....wow...that is confusing....OK..Nym is the pup advertised...the dam's littermate...everyone with me here....just competed at this past Nationals and did pretty well with the same owner/breeder! Anyway, his owner/breeder, although VERY WELL intentioned is not all that "internet savvy".

I appreciate all of the emails I have recieved...it is encouraging to know that so Hawk pup shall ever slip through the cracks, between, their tattooes, microchips, adn concerned fellow GSD friends!!!

I have emailed Christine and let her know how the ruckus she has caused among the GSD community. I assure you all he is well priced and she will not let him go home with just anyone...she has had him all this time waiting for the perfect home for home, she will not start compromising now....

You Guys Rock...adn Hawk says...:Thanks for watching out for my kids!"

Thank you Kandi and Pia.

Chris is a very close friend of mine. I was actually shocked to see this. I don't know how she got him on there as she hates using the computer. I know she is just trying to find the best home for him, and that is why he is still with her.

Chris screens all her homes and I'm sure if she knew petfinder had that reputation she would not have listed him there.  To be honest with you I had no idea that petfinder had that type of reputation either, and I consider myself pretty savy. I've never actually visited the site. Never thought about it.

Nym is  indeed a VERY nice dog, and she only wants the best for him. Chris also turns down a lot of poteintail homes so, rest assured he will not go to just anyone or any situation. Only the best home will do.

Thank you for the 'heads up'.

Julie
