Hello, You might want to check the old messageboard r/t ears. This may be from a lack of calcium, check with your vet to see what he or she recommends, also you can supplement 2tbls. cottage cheese, 1pk, unflavored gelatin to the feedings twice daily to see if this helps. There are other options but I'd check with my vet 1st, this could simply be r/t the diet and the puppy not getting enough nourishment. Sometimes there are genetic issues with soft ears, you might want to read this on the messageboard also. Before you do any stronger calcium supplements etc... have the puppy vet checked....No you aren't being paranoid.

Oops, forgot, give the puppy plenty of things for chewing , knucle bones etc. as the chewing , use of jaw also helps with strenghtening the muscles that help support the ears. I believe you can find a wealth of knowledge on the old messages. Also the ears can be taped, but do some reading on this too.

TerVan, on the contrary, as I understand it, your pups are showing extreme good strength in the ears as they are turning outward. It may not look pretty but they are better than alot of the others where the ears never go up. I don't know if this changes as the pup gets older and if you can do anything so that they appear like a prick ear. But one thing you don't have. . . are lazy ears. I saw a pup this weekend get Second place with this type of ear in a very strong class, and not one mention was made about it. I hope someone adds to this comment as I really am just a baby in this breed. Sunny

I would not worry. You still have a pup and im willing to bet this dog is large for his age. I once had a shepherd at this age and it looked as though you had put pencils at the ends of the ears and rolled them back-puled them out and they stayed curled back. I did nothing and they sraighten out later. Do what 'Amaras' said,You can find Knox gelatin at your local grocery. Check the teeth to see if they are still some baby teeth that maybe still intact behind the permanent. Letting the dog chew on something will help stimulate the ears also. Good luck!!

I would give one 500mg tablet of Ester-C, 3 times a week. In a few weeks you should see definate improvement.
