Not really sure how to word that correctly, but I am doing some research and I am looking for studs known to produce progeny that is within the breed standard, but on the smaller, more "athletic" side.  Wanting to find a compatible match for a line that tends to throw pups on the larger side of the standard or slightly above.  (I want to produce dogs that fall within the standard) Excellent temperament and health is also extremely important to me.  I am thinking that a dog with DDR lines is probably where I would find what I am wanting, but I'm open to suggestions.  Thanks!

I don't know why you would look to DDR lines for a stud dog that produces smaller dogs.
They are generally larger dogs and usually produce large or oversize dogs.
Look at Erri z Blatenskeho Zamku owned by Mike Diehl, or, Erri's father, Orry, who is owned by Van Den Heuvel.
Both are here in the U.S. and both are very accomplished dogs.
I had an Erri daughter living with me for about eight months.
Her owner had passed away and I took her in until I could place her in an appropriate situation.
She was at the small end of the scale for the breed standard, but, incredibly athletic and absolutely fearless with rock-solid temperament. Everything you could want in a dog.
Best of luck in your search.

I agree with OGBS about Orry. He is a smaller but very athletic dog. He is getting older now but he is still explosive. His progeny are very athletic as well.

I will second Erri too. The female in my avitar is an Erri daughter. I couldnt ask for a better dog. She is doing very well in SchH, and I am also doing AKC obedience with her. She is a decent size for a female and is VERY athletic. I have seen several Erri progeny and have liked what I have seen so far. I also like the fact that Erri produces correct size males and females.

OK...wouldn't the bitch, either of those 2 males are bred to count? Not saying they don't produce well...just sayin!

We have Erri puppies. 6 weeks old now. You can see how he produced in this litter,  http://www.wix.com/hausofrock/shepherds#!__litters-n-breedings . All have excellent drives, and can be used for any working venue, none will be placed into pet homes. Nice bone on all of them, nice coats and heads, and did I mention DRIVES DRIVE DRIVES. Really a great litter. I would recommend Erri to anyone looking for a great Czeck stud!!!!

Summertime,

Look for son's of Hoky Va Pe, this line produces medium sized dogs that are very athletic. Like other's have mentioned, the bitch will play just as much of a role in size.

Hoky va-pe has produced larger dogs also. I just imported one of his sons and he is over  75 pounds at 8 mos. He will be about 85-90 pounds at his maturity. The breeder told me the whole litter was larger. However the drives and athleticism and temperament of the litter is amaizing!
