There seems to be no sable dogs being used as show dogs.  Why is that?

by Ibrahim on 28 September 2011 - 22:09

There are some show sable GSDs but they are not popular because breeders don't think they can get high place under SV judges. A very successful breeder von arlett in Germany used with great success many sables in their breeding program.http://www.arlett.de/

I'm showing my sable on Saturday, he's not a showline though

He's gotten darker since that pic.  Still pretty immature but I want to get his show card for the breed survey and not have to worry about it in the spring.

That male has outstanding balance front-rear, he will get good remarks on his croup.

Not the best pic,( his front end and head are not facing front)but we show Aurick along with the showlines in our group. He's consistently rated VP, but never placed. (go figure)Hoping for his SG in the Spring.

This was my male at 6 months.  He is now 9 months but still looks very much the same, a little broader and a little darker. Opinions? Please take in mind I am a dog person but know little about show dogs.

Thanks

Cat.....remind me to get better pics of Aurick.
He actually looks much better than that picture.....and his "gerry curl" is no longer there on his topline.
I love the sables!....can't wait for my own sable babies someday.

This was Tripl H Dressa vom gaudi who could a  , would a , should a but she was being made ready and she died of some unknow bleeding, before Mahon got her to the Dallas trial two yrs ago.  She always had a natural stand and is not showline but has the old german BusckerSchloss, Weithurchen lineage.

Waiko SchaumbergerLand, SchH3, KKL1 V1 Canada; a SHOWLINE sable. He is being used frequently for breeding, producing both black/red and sables..so I am guessing we will be seeing more sable showlines in the ring as his progeny come up.
