Abby Normal

Yes Raul, that's the plight of dogs WITH animal welfare laws, imagine their plight without any.

Read the OPs original question, and all the other posts for that matter, as you seem to have missed the point and core issues of the debate (as have some others).

The poster's point is that laws by themselves accomplish absolutely nothing and are only as good as the will to enforce them.  But keep talking down to people who don't agree with you, that should prove extremely persuasive!

Then you are the same age as i am and although i too do not feel my age or look it, fact is i am still 71 years old. So as you have been all over as you put it then why not try to put the wrongs to rights for you certainly may do more good for the animals by protesting in China against there practises than being up in arms on this website like many other people are. We do not agree with the way they treat Dogs but if they were more humanly put down say as Livestock over here is culled, would you feel the same way as you do now, and this statement applies to all posters on here how would you react then to the dogs being eaten

Then you are the same age as i am, and i to do not feel or look my age but i am still 71 years old whatever,
Now as you have been all over then you can quite easily go over to China and protest about the way they treat Dogs, You may do more good than posting on here,
Now this is to all posters on this site, How would you feel if the Dogs were culled in the same manner as we cull Livestock over here Then no one would have no complaints i guess, That is what the Govenments should be trying to get the Chinese People to accept a more human way of Culling the Dogs before there are eaten

     Steve1....

I would personally not eat any type of domesticated animal, but I accept that some people do...However, my concern is with the suffering/torture that some people/cultures inflict in the process...

If people must eat creatures, they should show respect/compassion for the life that is given for their benefit....

You are telling me something that i and others already know, but that is not the question i asked. I said if Dogs were Culled the same way as Cattle etc how would you react to the Chinese people eating Dogs then i did not ask if you would eat them yourself. So Guys what do you think

Now we are getting somewhere, How about all you other Guys on here who are up in arms what is your opinions of Culling the Dogs the same way as Cattle before they are eaten, There should not be any problems with that with anyone, But getting that fact through to the People of China may take a while, and i am still waiting replies from a couple who i posted to

Once any animal have been humanely killed/culled what difference does it make what you do with it? Eat it, bury it burn it, make a rug etc.

The only difference is in how you perceive that particular animal, in Western culture we accept a lesser degree of humane treatment for animals kept for consumption (chickens, cows, pigs) and even less for seafood - crabs and lobsters boiled Alive! Do not hear any outcry for those crabs and lobsters being boiled to death.

Which is why I refuse to sell crabs or lobsters to anyone in North America. I refuse!

Cats, dogs and horses are the top of our "pet list" - do not eat.

If you look over your fence one day and see your neighbor beat a Rat to death with a shovel are you horrified?

Probably not, it's a Rat after all, vermin.

But....if you look over your fence and see your neighbor beat a puppy to death with the same shovel you would be horrified. After all it's a puppy, a pet.

My question is, does the Rat feel any less pain being beaten to death with a shovel than the puppy does??

          Pirate...

I would not beat a rat or boil a lobster alive....I would find a more humane way of killing it......I also try to catch a bug and release it outside if I can...I think all living creatures deserve our consideration when it comes to how and when we take their lives....Not saying I have not stepped on a spider, but it is always my last resort...and it makes me sad to do it...
