Maybe he has a different call name.
I knew a woman who's name is Phart.  When she came to the States and everyone made fun of her name she started being called Pat.

The man who raised me, I call him my Dad, came to the States he prefered to be called Yo his name is Dung. :)

Ha! My daughter's dog is Boudica, we affectionately call her "Boudi", it definitely gets some funny looks. I remember being at shows in which dog were being exhibited called "Anouk", which they referred to as "Nooky" and "Bushka", whom I specifically remember her double handlers calling her "Bushy" or "Heyyyyy Bush Bush Bush!" The silliness we put ourselves through on behalf of our dogs.

Not just over dogs, either.....! I'll never forget how embarrassed I was the time my mother, who had been visiting myself & my ailing kitty, leaned over the railing of the elevator at the airport to call out to me, "I hope your pussy feels better!" Every face in the crowd of people at departures turned to look at me....& of course there were no rocks to crawl under.. jackie harris
