Question about if a male puppy GS is being submissive to an adult male GS, when the puppy is full grown - will he challenge the older adult GS as an alpha dog. I mean like fighting for that position or he will continue to be submissive until older male gets very old.

I seing like wolf packs - an older experience wolf holds his possition - even younger wolves could / can challenge an older alpha wolf, but most cases they give him respect until he gets very old and weak.

Thanks:)

i have a 14yr old male and 6yr old female, also now i have a very playful 6 month male who is very submissive to the older dogs. There may be a problem as the pup gets older but you can keep things in check by showing them that you are the Alpha male/female.We have had GSDs for years, always at least 2 and never had a serious problem but i think its up to you as the Alpha male /female to keep things under control. There is nothing more satisfying for us than to have all our dogs playing together happily.

The thing that's great about the canine family is that they respect their elders

It's when they are the same age that you will see a problem, unless one has a more easy going temperament than the other.

Thanks! Last question? At what age or month that a pup will try to challenge an older dog, I heard at 9 months but I may be wrong, I simply want to know - so as I Alpha male to keep things checked and under control.

MY uncle has a rottweiler, and a erman shepherd. They are both males. He bought the German shepherd at 4 months old, and it was a nice easygoing obedient, although stubborn GSD. The next day he got a Rottweiler. That was about 1 year old. The rottweiler, was a dominant, stubborn, danger to strangers type of dog. He was meant to be a guard dog.

For a while th 2 dogs got on with each other, an they were best friends to each other, and my uncle. They even defended him. But after a year, when the German shepherd got to about 15 months, and the rottweiler got to 2 years, they both started to try & KILL each other. Litterally. When they were young, the german shepherd was subbmissive. However now, he has no manners towards the rottie. And the rottie, just wants to kill. My uncle is also going to get a puppy GSD female. He plans on selling the rottie, and keeping the male german shepherd, and the female german shepherd, which he will buy.

BELOW IS A PICTURE OF THE MALE GERMAN SHEPHERD AT AROUND 8 MONTHS:
