I'm sad to announce my dogs Jolly Ball was killed tonight. First our youngest pup chewed the rope almost off and at the river my older pup decided to chew a hole in the poor jolly ball. We will be looking for a new ball to adopt ASAP. This was my dogs favorite toy and had lasted about 6 months. We still have the Kong going strong, but he neglects to play with it unless it is filled with some sort of goody.

I went on a toy and treat shopping spree tonight ,after browsing the Jeffers catalog. Didn't find much in the way of toys, so will be ordering on line what we need. I'm sick of my dog eating his rubber mat daily instead of chewing his toys! Grrrrrr.

Question?...Does anyone use the Everlasting Treat Ball for their GSD's? I'm trying to buy interactive toys to rotate in my dogs kennel to ease his boredom. When he has to stay rested when he limps, he drives me freaking crazy chewing everything he shouldn't! Next will be his dog house.

So far we have...

Kong

Kong Stuff A Ball

Jolly Ball

I am going to add...

Tug a Jug, you unscrew the botton and put treats inside that roll around and the dog can see, smell, hear, and taste them in this clear jug attached to a rugged knotted rope with a nubby ball on the rope

Wiggly Giggly Ball, much like a Jolly ball but makes gille noises when played with

Maybe an Egge, does anyones dogs really preffer these over a jolly ball or other toys?

I hate to waste $ on something he wont even look at.

Our house looks like a dog toy store with all of them laying around.  I also rotate toys evey week or so. They love it when they get their "new" toys!

Nobody have descriptions of indestructible toys I can get ideas off of?

4Pack:  I got my dog the Everlasting Treat Ball & he got the treats out of it in about 5 minutes,  but he does like to carry the thing around sometimes.

Sue I was afraid mine would do the same and for $20 including ball and treats, I would be frustrated yet again. While at Petsmart he did grab a big tire attached to a rope. I should have bought that since he picked it out himself.

For laugh factor, I was asked by an employee of Petsmart if my dog was a short coated version of his breed. I am almost certain he didn't know the breed at all. I laughed and said he is a normal "stock" coat. Unsatisfied by my answer, he then asked another employee if my dog was the short haired version, of what was in earlier. I almost threw up and couldn't help but say "my dog would be the correct hair "version" and the long coat was a fault. I think someone is breeding long coats in my area.

Yes I know that sounded bitchy but I figured a person working in a pet store, would know a tad more about dogs. I guess I should slap myself for expecting more?

4pack, watch them playing with the giggly wiggly - inside there are hard plastic pieces that hold the "noise makers". when the dogs do chew through the outer softer plastic, they can get to the hard plastic which shatters and has splinter like shards. we banished them finally because it was too hard to watch them before they got to the "innards". years ago i had a jack russell who loved the big ones; he'd chase them all over the yard seemingly endlessly. when he'd finaaly get mad enough at them, he'd chew through until he had a hole just big enough for his head. then he'd stick his head in it and for one day (only) he walk around running into things. he did this w/about 4 different giggly wigglies. kinda funny, but we had to immmediately "gut" the balls (eeeww) when the dog would chew through them. angus wouldn't chase them, he'd just chew on them. so, considering that we've already spent a gazillion dollars on elbow surgery, we decided the probable outcome and got rid of the balls. none of my dogs has ever cared about the giggly wiggly barbell shaped toy tho. i think i will get a jolly ball. my friends horse has one and its fun watching a 900 lb beastie acting like a colt again.
