Mark Twain said '' if you take a dog from poverty to prosperity it will never bite you, That is the primary difference between man and dog. Funny maybe, but not the 100% truth. Socialization of a dog [ pup ] requires it to be exposed to as many stimulus and stressors as possible while young. I have had to rebuff people with poorly behaved children from inflicting the wrong stimulus to my pup. I have had the same with other people's dogs towards my pups. My example to the owner of this youngster pup. If it was your daughter in this situation and a stranger said to you '' your child is beautiful, may I touch her?'' What would you do?

You make it sound perverted. The OP's post was about a puppy and a toddler. I don't think that your example is a good one.

Matter of fact, maybe it really is about incompetence in breeding GSD's who can't be trained to be safe around children? Or just bad trainers who are breeders? That happens, too.

the daughter comparison works as far as  am concerned. my dogs are important to me, my child is my world.  Your 2 pictures above do not work for me though. I would teach my child that ; to ride a dog, kiss a dog on the face, curl up with a dog while it is sleeping, take candy from a stranger are all very bad ideas.

Really? Hmm. I'll see if I can find a picture you might like, lol. I admit, I am getting them from a pretty old book.

When taught to be kind to animals, children with their properly bred and trained, GSD puppies,

....or dogs.....are a beautiful thing.

better pictures above. the dog doing art is under obedience or he hates the subject matter. the dogs in school with kinder look great but the kid on the right has a bad attitude.
