That's a good looking dog in the "Deuce" video. I hope the Original Poster saw it, since that's a nice example of a short exercise/play/training session with a young GSD.
I never know when someone wants a PPD what exactly they have in mind. Some just want a burglar deterrent so a home security system better suits their needs. Some expect a K-9 patrol type trained dog and have no clue what kind of training and responsibility that involves. Some just like the look of a GSD and have never had a dog before. Some actually do know what is involved and just need a contact in their area. But most never post their experience and quals, so you have to ask questions or make comments that draw info out. I hate to see either a good dog go to the wrong person or a person get ripped off due to lack of knowledge. Yeah, I'm usually concerned for the dog's sake since I love GSDs and too many get discarded because the owner didn't have the knowledge or stick-to-it-iveness to properly train and care for the dog.

Kim,
That's one heck of a nice puppy!
I like the puppy sling work... gotta get or make one of those.
That's about what our puppy obstacle course includes as well. We have the use of a dilapidated old 2 story house
that our county SO uses for their K9 training that I also use.

I get it now. Thanks for sharing that video.$7,000 to $25,000 seems like a small price to pay with the amount of training the puppies go through. Wow, I never knew.

Michael:
Exactley what do you consider a personnel protection dog? What do you want the dog to do? Just be a big scarry dog in the house? Could you give us a idea of what you would expect from such a dog?. All dogs start out the same the price rangeing just depends on the big show you want with the purchase. Anyone who would spend that kind of money will also invest in coast line in jersey right now. There is no possible way to truly test a "PPD" with out knowning what you expect the dog to have to do to earn it,s keep.
I also see these big adds " Executive Protection Dogs 75.000 dollars" It really is a joke.

Well.....
I can honestly say that "training dogs is our hobby" , not how we make our living.
And I can honestly say that we train some very nice Police candidate/SAR candidate and Personal Protection Dogs.
And I can honestly say that, just because it is our hobby - we like to be paid for the work that has been put in to them.
Safety is not Expensive, it's Priceless!
Having said that, No Dog in the World is worth $75,000!
