Joan's other stud would be a far better dog for complimenting your female, IMO. But it's all after pinochle now....lol

joanro, may I suggest that in the future, you refrain from advising someone inquiring about using your stud dog to solicit opinions on such a mating from members of an international breed forum, if you're unsure about whether you are going to agree to providing the service? This thread never would have existed but for you telling klcabe to 'poll', as it were, this board as to would the pairing be a 'yea' or a 'nay'. I'm reasonably sure that had you just told the OP that you'd have to think about the mating and get back to her on it, and left it there, klcabe is sensible enough to have waited for your ultimate acceptance or declination.
I don't have ANY problem with a stud dog owner being selective about which bitches their male covers--I've always made it quite clear that I believe owners of the stud AND of the bitch have an obligation to see that their dog is being used correctly in breeding, ensuring quality of offspring, not quantity. Frankly, however, if I'd had the exchange you and klcabe had, I'd have come away from it thinking you were at worst unsure about what it would produce and at best were OK with it taking place as long as I knew what I was getting into with the pairing and that the pups would do both parents proud. IMO, it seemed to me like you were hedging your bets, not wanting to tell the OP "no thanks", until you knew if her request for opinions on that pairing created any sort of good 'buzz' in the working-lines world; and that had there been a huge groundswell of Gustavs, workingdogz, zdogs and similar 'pro' types replying "Great!" "Excellent combination!" and so forth, you may not have nixed the mating after all. Not saying that is or isn't what you were doing; just that it can certainly be viewed in that fashion.

Naw, no I don't believe that I would have been swayed even if there was a unanimous opinion that this was a mating made in heaven. I will take your advice though, Hexe. Thank you.

Similar breeding have been done in Czech, progeny seems fine, smaller sizes but no puppies are man killing machines and they are still young.
I know of a stud, similar pedigree to Charik ( less line breeding but I think more variety) 3-4 on Tom. If you want me to I can give you info about him. The only thing I will point out is the line does produce smaller dogs, and also firecracers so be ready to line up some working homes.
Good luck. PM me if you want the info...

I won't advise either on whether or not I think the
breeding would be a good one or not.
I personally am not a fan of heavy/close linebreeding,
I understand it's a needed thing at times, but I also believe
it should be done only by those with a buttload of experience
in the lines and their dogs etc.
I stand by the advice I first offered, look to what your female
needs, has loads of etc, and look to see what similar lines
have been bred to and produced.
Your female looks to be a very nice dog, with a nice pedigree,
all the best to you with her.

Joanro stated in a comment that a 3-3 would make to much prey in the first page for "pet homes"
If you read the comments !
I was replying that a 3-3 on Tom does create high prey drive BUT in no way makes them unsuitable for pet homes
Or any other home for that matter
I was saying do not base the decision, refuse to do the breeding and say to much Tom
Because anyone that knows the "Tom" lines knows this was a good breeding ....
Maybe it was by accident or well thought out by the OP but to put a ped together like this and complement the Tom lines couldn't have happened better
Sorry that Joanro doesn't know the Tom lines better because this WAS a super line up....

Yes, it was. I would have kept my eye on that litter ... might have been seriously tempted!

Avery Hill, not sure why you're addressing me at all. I didn't say anything to you.
Did it ever occur to anyone that perhaps information came about during the course of Kristen's postings that may have swayed Joan's decision? Have you done the checking around that a stud owner may do? WHO KNOWS why Joan really, ultimately decided no. But it's her decision and none of our business and I think it's hysterically hypocritical to hassle her about it when typically, it's the opposite cry- breeders and stud owners will do anything for money.
Why people need to kid themselves into thinking they know the whole story from an internet post is beyond me. Just realize you have no idea what really went on and move on with your lives. Why is this thread still going on?
