Pano is basically growing pains.  You need to restrict her activities if she develops it as she may cry out when moving around.   Worry wart mom that I am, anytime Echo cried I was all over her but by the time I touched her she was over it and loving all the attention.  Usually she cried getting up or when sliding to a stop at the end of a short burst of speed.  She would limp on any one of her feet for a step or two and then she would be off again.  Hard to contain that energy at this age so her crate came in handy when she was being the wild child.

The standard states 21.65 - 23.62 inches at the withers and 48.5 - 70.43 lbs for bitches in good working condition.

Looks like my girl isn't going to be there unless she is bone thin at this rate.  Oh well, I wasn't planning on breeding her anyway.

Wow, 70 lbs?? That isn't much at all! I'm surprised most female GSD's don't surpass that.

I'm afraid that a lot do surpass that weight.  When they get too big they no longer are as agile or swift as they are when meeting the standard.  There is a good article regarding the standard you can check out at:

Thanks for that link (: I just checked it out, and it was very interesting. I haven't even decided whether or not I ever want to breed her. I wouldn't do it for a couple years anyway. But I suppose worst case she could always stand to lose a few pounds, since I don't go out of my way to keep her as lean as a lot of people do.

Hi! I'm new here, this is my first post, but I will say that your female pup is normal size.

I have a pure bred male German Shepherd he just turned 6 months on 7/13/2009, and I took him to petsmart on 7/11/2009 and he is standing 81.6 pounds and standing at height 26" inch tall at the shoulder.
(Honest truth I didn't make this up.)

Hello,
My male GSD (W/L) is 65-68 lbs at 2 years old. I keep him thin (watching his hips!) But he's not "skinny"... I wasn't sure if he was too small, comparing him to MOST of the GSDs I see at work. I'm a groomer at PetSmart so I see at least a dozen a week, especially now, during shedding season :)
When people see him they always ask if he's purebred (and/or full grown.) Kinda annoys me since I bought him from a reputable w/l breeder from Belgium lol.
I also have a female (S/L) from a breeder in Germany and she is only slightly heavier boned than him. She's 16 months and was about 65 when I weighed her 2 months ago.

sorry that pup is everweight. it has nothing to do with big bones (he has those also) he is foremost overweight.
150 pound German shepherd it simply way too big for me to put it to work and not kill it in process. I need slim, fast agile dog to witstand the physical work I require form my dog. Everybody likes diferent things. Franquie's pup comes out of 81 pound male and 72 pound female.. the pup is a bit overveight as well. She is fixing that.
Her pup was selected for work, not for looking big. I would never even consider getting anything with the potential to be 150 pound.. that dog would die in the middle of the field trying to make it.... .
Anyway good luck with you puppy

She certainly looks to be a little over weight in the Pic's, you could do well to cut her back a bit, she will benifit from it, a nice looking Pup anyway
