YR,
OMG......where to start?...this topic has been well versed on this board.
PLEASE search back thru the pages......I think Silbersee?...someone...actually defined the "genetic codes" that link the sable genes..........TOO MUCH TYPING FOR ME!
I have had both sable and black & red dogs (litters)...and I've seen all the "color tones" of the sable puppies at birth......actually, I think they are the cutest!
HOWEVER;......1 parent Father or Mother MUST be a sable dog themselves to produce a (true) sable puppy.....as true for a G-parent....and so on.   You can have black & red littermates....but they will not produce a "sable" puppy.
Malcolm B. Willis has a great genetic book, it explains so much.
Would I be surprised in the future of another "color variation" creeping thru the "genetic barriers", such as the "Panda color"..............in a "psuedo sable" form??.......no I would not.

Find that post about the sable gene.....it explaines in great detail.

Yellow Rose- there is a link to the dogs’ pedigree on this thread. There are NO sable dogs anywhere in that pedigree. So there is NO way that this pup could be a sable from that breeding.

crhuerta hit the nail on the head with ther post.

katjo- it is a sable or it is not. There is no later as she grows we'll see. The sable color is there from birth. Now the sable color can change over time to light or dark but you know if it is a sable from day one. And as for the poster going to your website to single you out that is a bit far fetched if you ask me. Are you that great of a breeder that people feel the need to stalk your website? If you have ads for your dogs or pups your web site is out there for all to see! Just using google would bring you up as a breeder. So to state that this person is after you alone that is a bit paranoid and presumptuous don't you think? Unless you have something to hide then I see nothing wrong with there questions. if you put it on the world wide web for all to see and are stating it to be a FACT and now pointing fingers at others for what YOU put on YOUR web site then you should be the one in question not the poster!  Oh, and your the one that said it was your web site not the poster, so seems to me that your the one that is making this personal.

To the others that have posted pics GREAT pups and dogs! Would love to see pics as they grow of the pups!

Yellowrose - no matter the grandparent's color - the sire and the dam are the two dogs that pass color genes on to each puppy (one color gene from each parent) - sable is dominant, so if there is a sable gene to be passed on, the parent would BE a sable dog.  No sable dog, no sable puppies.

Lol, Kathy, now I know who you are; your postings all sound the same-changing a username doesn't change the personality of one's writing.  If people want to question me ligitmately concerning my breedings, policies,  etc, then they are welcomed to contact me & my husband personally. and here's a good point to make-- this has not yet occurred from people really seriously  worried about anything I do as remotely unethical or questionable in the GS world. Although after me saying this, I am SURE you can make up some more usernames to plague me and/or round up some to do this for you. Lol.  I am done with addressing this situation like the others you stir up and cause. Have a nice day-I am!

Well I guess its my turn....  I have seen this pup from a few days old till she was 8wks when she went to her new home... I will say She has 2 toned hair... and didn't look to be blk/red blk/tan ...I have seen a few SHOWLINE litters.....   Why does it matter so much to everyone if she is sable or not... it doesn't effect ANY of you in ANY shape or form... That pup didn't look like the others, and the parents are what the pedigree link says...  AND are who the breeder says they are... She has NEVER did any kind of false paper work.... I don't care what anyone says. I know the breeder of her very well, she is a very nice person and a good breeder.   It seems to me alot of people on this board that attack each other, for no reason....  You all doing the attacking and saying bad things... about the breeder, or anybody else for that matter need to just know.... Karma has its way in this world on alot of things and what you do now does effect you in someway somehow..... Thats my 10 cents worth on it!

Riche23,
A question was posted.....thats all...nothing more.
It was answered professionally & factual......thats all.
It really doesn't concern me, whom the breeder is.........I answered a question professionally...period.

What attacking are you speaking of? What posts?

by eichenluft on 18 August 2009 - 04:08

If the pup is in fact a sable, and both parents are black/red - then look for the closest sneaky sable dog around then to be the sire of at least that puppy if not the others - sable puppy from black/red parents is simply not possible, no matter how nice and honest the breeder is!
