Wow. First, breeders are in trouble for being greedy and taking money over proper placement of dogs, yada yada yada. Then, one stands up and says no to a breeding and now is in trouble for not doing just that. I don't see how what joanro wrote would be construed as "blaming" Tom for anything. She merely didn't think the breeding was a good idea for a variety of reasons, and let's remember, she's not the one who brought it to the board. I got the idea (just a personal opinion) that she was trying desperately to be tactful yet discouraging and that there were more reasons that none of us are privy to. JMO. Can't believe this is such a big deal.

Private advice is a fine idea...this probably should've been kept private to begin with. Posting emails is not only against TOS, it's a little rude.

Thanks , Jenni. I was hoping the op would get some useful input.

I get it. I would likely do the same, not expecting it to be taken personally and escalate to posting emails. Wait, if I would do it, it must be wrong! LOL

Me, rude???! Jenni, I was outright called a liar. I posted the proof that I was not, in fact, lying.

Joan, we have met before, several times, many years ago, at the Camp.

Yes, I have been unemployed for over a year now. However, I have a completely separate bank account under my kennel name that is for the dogs only. They have not suffered during the time I've been unemployed, and I've had two litters during that period. The reason I asked about making payments was because I just had to spend just over $1,000 in Vet bills for one of my dogs, and really did not want to have to fork out another large chunk all at once (just in case it was needed).

If you had simply responded to my e-mail with the concerns you posted above, I doubt that this situation would be where it is now. I was going to ask if you would let me begin making payments now, so that the stud fee would be paid in full when Naccia comes in heat again.

After several PM's that I have received, I am glad that I did not end up wasting my time or money attempting to do this breeding.

All the best,
Kristen

i was one of the critics in the thread on tom.....having 2 tom grandaughters.  actually, i don't see anything "wrong" with this breeding.  obviously, the dogs will be higher in  prey drive; making them candidates for sport.  i just think you need to have a plan in mind for subsequent generations.  there will be a lot of orry in these pups, so if you are planning to keep one back for yourself, you will need to have something in mind without any orry.  possibly something a bit more laid back, with a clear head & solid nerves.  i guess i am one who might be looking too far down the road, but i believe any breeding done should be with a clear plan in mind and thoughts of the next 2 or 3 generations even before the breeding is done.

whew....this is some crazy crap...all over asking to use a dog for breeding...sheesh. If I do a simulated breeding with someone elses dog on PDB and the owner doesn't like it....so what....hope they don't contact me to remove it....off to train:-)

by joanro on 28 August 2012 - 18:08

Well, fore give me for not remembering you from the " camp", I don't know what you mean by the camp, unless your talking about the schH club. But meeting some one and knowing them are not the same. Kristen your personal attacks are out of place but evidently not out of character. You've dragged this out too far already, you removed my dog from your site as requested, so all your personal finance information are moot and of no interest to me. Have a nice life.

by joanro on 28 August 2012 - 18:08

Judron55, the mate check on the PDB was not an issue at all. You evidently missed the part where she posted the breeding as a fact with a price for the pups at one thousand dollars on her personal Website, before any agreement was made to do the breeding. I won't make an instant decision concerning an outside breeding, but she evidently thought that being told the stud fee meant she had the go ahead to advertise the litter on her personal website. So, using your reaction to what you thought the issue was, I need be careful who's email I respond to. There's more to making a decision about an outside breeding than are the two dogs compatible......that takes a day or two sometimes. The OP's original post shows that the mate check on PDB was not an issue.

I posted the breeding on my 'planned breedings' page, yes. 'Planned,' meaning "to think out; prepare in advance; contemplate; make arrangements."

I've made no personal attacks on you, Joan. This entire issue stems from the fact that I was misled, then called a liar, and made out to be irresponsible, by someone who says they don't know me, but then claims to know what is/is not 'out of character' for me. It appears that the personal attacks are coming from your side, not mine, and I do not appreciate it. THAT is why I continued to post to this thread. This will be my final response, however.

I sincerely thank and appreciate those of you who have been helpful.
