We're sure that it's quite possible for show-line GSD to fight with working-line GSD and even to win them! At least at the Universalsieger VM!

I’m not sure what the qualification is for the team since we have two organizations, but on the USCA side it would be very difficult for a SL to compete with the WL. They’d need to be a very special dog or just have a good run of luck with a lot of dogs not qualifying at the national IPO trials. Last few national IPO trials, there wasn’t even a show line entered. Rarely even see them at regional events. Since our Sieger show is smaller, and there are plenty of WL dogs that can get a V rating and place high enough in a small working group, the SL would have to be quite special to place even top 20 at the national IPO trial.

Here in Russia the situation with SL and WL GSD is very similar to what you've told us about the USA national trials. We're  trying to change it and hope to be a success!

You should check your recent USCA/USA history.  You had a showline female place 10th at a recent USCA national with a 275 score (vs. working lines) and place third at the WUSV Universal Sieger (as the only showline)..  And a showline male from the USCA win Universal Sieger 3 years in a row (topping working lines) and 7th at the WUSV Universal Sieger (topping working lines).  And a showline from the WDA win the WUSV Universal Sieger with a second place IPO score (vs. working lines) including Fritz Bueller, Josef Adamucin and other World level competitors.  And a Canadian showline male make the Canadian WUSV World Team.  But, whatever.....

Good to hear that there are a few competitive dogs out there. Haven't seen any myself in a few years so hopefully there's someone out there getting one ready to trial and show in the near future.
