( and I think it´s a shame that German SV is willing to send SV judges to the island to judge adult dogs without titles ).

Susie, I agree, oh how I agree with you !
But reality is the SV has allowed 2 member clubs
to exist here as its affiliates for YEARS without
prodding them very much; of the two, BAGSD was
initially the one with more promotion of the 'work'
side, but concentrated on UK competitions (formal
Ob., Trials, etc) to the detriment of interest in
Schutzhund, where the League used not to be all
that interested, period. That situation has reversed,
with BAGSD now being seen as the 'stick in the mud',
whereas the League has backed the newer Regional
club structure which has more interest - up to a point -
in IPO. [Simplified, but true !]
And you have to separate the KC type Showring from
the (majority of ) the Breed Clubs shows. The differences
are not only in bigger rings for the specialists ! The latter
have supported the German GSD; have invited most of
the SV members who have judged here; have some SV
judges themselves. But neither 'germanic' fanciers nor
Alsatianists who breed and exhibit have taken sport/work
qualifications seriously, in the main. That is improving,
but it ought to have happened a very long time ago. Show
people here, in the majority, do not work or qualify their
stock. They will not put in the time or effort required. IPO
etc Clubs are still very much populated by those owners
who identify with the working side of the breed. There are
many more exceptions to this than there used to be ... but
that ain't saying a great deal. They pay lip service to the
working nature of the breed, but do so little to demonstrate
it in their own dogs.
And don't get me started on the whole Health Certification
thing - that would be nice to have thoughout the UK Show
scene too, but again, while the League and the Breed Clubs
lead the way, the KC, for all its pontificating and vet checks
at Shows, lags behind.
