Very nice male Joanro, kudos!

Nice female too Kristen, all the best finding that perfect match. :)

Wow.

Actually, the quote above is a direct copy/paste from my e-mail, so I'm not sure exactly how it is inaccurate. I'm sure that you have copies as well, but to prevent you from making me out a liar, here is a print screen view as proof (including my initial e-mail to you).

To be honest, I am a bit surprised at how overly-ridiculous this has been. I have never had this much trouble dealing with a stud dog owner. If you just simply did not want to allow me to use Charik with Naccia, you should have said that right out of the gate, instead of  telling me what the stud fee was. Generally when someone gives you a price for something, it means they are willing to enter into an agreement with you, either to purchase an item being sold, or to partake of services being offered. Why would you quote a price to someone and then say 'Oh, just not for you.' ??

Your reason for not wanting to allow me to use Charik, in YOUR words, is because prey drive likely will be over the top, would be much more than most people would want to deal with, and may be too much for the general public. However, by saying all this, you assumed that the 'general public' was my target market, which it is not.

By saying, "If the OP was intending to produce drug dogs, this would probably produce dogs that LE would desire. However, most pups end up going to family environments and even some sch people are indicating a desire for more balanced dogs. With 3-3 on Tom, I think these pups would not fit in those situations. I like a little Tobasco on my omelet, but half the bottle wouldn't be better. I don't want to be responsible for pups that are going to be bounced around until they end up in "rescue" or the pound," you again assumed what type of homes my puppies would be going to, and incinuated that they would end up being turned over to a rescue or shelter.

I appreciate the fact that you choose to decline stud service to Naccia. However, it would have been nice to have known that from the very beginning, before I and several others became excited about the breeding.

cphudson, thank you for those suggestions. I will look into them and see if any are close enough to seriously consider.

I'm not worried about increasing prey drive; there's plenty of that already there, but I do want to bring in just a little more defensive drive. Not a ton, mind you, but enough so that it can be brought out a little easier.

Just wanted to give an update on the sable gsd female I mentioned on here in the "shelter". She was scheduled to be put down tomorrow, but after many, many calls, we have friends picking her up tomorrow. She is only aggressive towards little dogs but is good with people and big dogs. Dropped off to be killed by a "defense trainer" because she was said to be "dog aggressive". Our friends getting her are not a " rescue", but are happy to take her in.

Good news, Joan!

Kristen, if giving a price to someone asking for a price means you've agreed to sell them something, then boy am I in trouble! I just sold my dog 3 times in the last hour!

by klcabe on 28 August 2012 - 01:08

That's great, Joan. Hopefully she will be happy with your friends.

Jenni. I did not ask for the stud fee; see the screenshots. I did, in fact, already know what the stud fee was.

by joanro on 28 August 2012 - 02:08

Jenni, LOL.

Kristen, I could not read the entirety of your post, but I think I got the gist of it. No one would have gotten excited about about "the breeding" if you had not been premature in putting it on your website. Saying "no right out of the gate" would mean that I have instantaneous due diligence powers, which of corse I don't. There were a few facts I learned which came into my decision making processes...one of them being that you asked to make "payments" on the stud fee. Would the payments be like layaway, when all payments are made you get your stud service? Or would it be stud service, then payments commence? Or puppies are born, and if satisfied, then payments commence. I do not know you from Adam's off ox. Plus you said you are unemployed. I'm sorry for that, there are too many nowadays who are. But if you're unemployed, how can you afford vet bills for mother and pups? I would not feel comfortable selling a pup to a person unemployed for the same reason. Hard but it's fair, had a good home and wouldn't stay there.

I would like to add that I have 2 dogs 3-3 on Tom with yes very high prey but my 10 year old daughter can handle both dogs with ease.
So to assume that a dog with Tom 3-3 will be a unstable prey nightmare is just stupid. Or that they have no off switch or can not also be family pets.
If you don't want to do the breeding (and I liked the combination myself)
For whatever reason but don't blame it on poor old Tom laugh

Hey, Kristen, I can give you a name of someone you know with a very nice GSL litter.

Seriously, maybe Gustav or workingdogz can give you some PRIVATE advice.
