If the look/type is so important I would focus more on the pedigree than the dog itself. The dog/stud might be exactly what you want in looks but if he is atypical of what his lines produce then it probably won't do you much good.

Agree..as I said...the most important thing to me is what a dog actually sires (hence, my search for a proven stud)......
Ideally, I would love the whole package; a dog that has the traits I seek and consistently passes them on!!!
Ok, dream dog- incredibly healthy with balanced, stable temperament AND has the substance, bone, strong pigment, and type of German showlines; the front, topline, croup, and motion of American lines; and the hindquarter (depth and strength), nerves and willingness to work of German workinglines. Possible in one dog????

What do you think of Boy?

by Smiley on 19 August 2012 - 18:08
Hard to tell from the 2 pictures I have seen as he is overstacked. Also, I haven't been able to find any gaiting footage. But, he looks to be a super nice working male (balanced and athletic) that can hold his own in the conformation ring! I definitely wouldn't pass him by without a long look.....

i remember a very nice male that was at the USA SS and placed very well for a working line , his movement was very good- his name is Crok von der Mordersdell- i like him and his movement was very impressive. and i am just a show line person , but i though he was worth alook.

Trixx...wow! Cool dog! But, I can't find any US contact for him...
I know we have all talked about crossing worlds with our GSDs and breeding to produce the ultimate dog. I know several forum members have a combination of Am/Show/Working bloodlines but I wish more dogs would cross over! I did find one stud that looks interesting but don't yet know much about him:

What are you looking to do with pups from the future litter? Show? Schutzhund, or competitive Schutzhund at a high level? Each requires a different set of abilities and conformation traits. The male I have is a grandson of UFO and Xito, and would have made a great high level competition dog in different hands. His conformation went SG1 under Scheld, which is all he can be given without a training title. (He's not available anyhow for breeding, btw) But he's taught me the difference between a working dog and a high level competition dog.
I've had the pleasure of taking a trip with Doc and Kandi last year and can vouch that despite being a high level competition dog, he's very mellow and easy do to live around. He's also "V" rated. Check out his facebook page, and see just what he's producing and what folks with his kids say about them. https://www.facebook.com/groups/271415899550494/

Windwalker....Hi, there! I am looking for my next family/performance dog (not a sport dog) and will be keeping a female back from litter. I realized as I train my German working line bitch through her AKC performance titles that I really don't enjoy obedience *gasp*!!
But, I will finish the rest of her rally titles and get her last leg for her BN. I do like rally! We are in agility lessons and I am going to start herding again to title once I finish her rally titles (budget reasons i can't do all at same time). She has her HIC, CGC, RN. I am working towards her PAM with the GSDCA. I did join WDA as I support the working dog but since I am now less than enthuiastic about obedince training (I just don't have that perfectionist, precise, type A personality-
), I will probably maintain my memebership but aim mostly for AKC performance events. I do plan on trying to progress in herding and an HGH might not be totally out of the question which would allow her SV registration status.
I did show her to a UKC Championship and really enjoyed the conformation ring! But, I am not prepared to breed the type of dog that wins a GSDCA speciality. Not my taste...! But, it would be cool to **try** to finish in akc/ukc all breed while maintaining the strong nerves, and willingness/desire to work required in the SV world.
Basically, I want a dog that can compete in AKC and UKC conformation shows, and more importantly, performance events and, yet, is still suitable in temperament, nerve, and structure to compete in the SV sport world if I wanted too. Even if I don't do it..I want a dog that **COULD **do it (while still having the type, pigment, and bone to be able to hang in SV conformation shows).
Oh, BTW..I don't have facebook.. *hides behind couch*!!
