You don't want to take her off her home turf, because of stress? Sounds like on hell of a dog you bred there.

Gloves are off now, though..
And I'm a retired nurse, so I know all about the stages of labour, and no, you weren't very clear about just where your bitch was at.
Glad things are going well for her now.

I know OLEOS is old hat at this but LIKE I have witnessed over my years, I do not breed any female who is not very social, very confident and very calm and is a borderline personality negative.
I do not know why she is not social and the statement you made was just like one of my Sables , I have who is 5 and SHE is not candidate for being bred...I kept her to show people what the proper size of a female should be, what the coloring of sable bitches are, and she is sweet but runs circles around a situation and is on the high road to everywhere all the time..NOT a quality I want to breed and I think she would lick her pups to death as she beats me to death with her tail being happy to see me..IT is a trait and it passes on to pups..
MY 3 cents, is hope the pups are all good, but please mark them all as to which ones born first, and then evaluate each pup,,,and watch for the MOMS same traits...do this litter as a TEST for you...if you see what I think you will see in some of them.....DO NOT BREED here again..
Keep us posted, and hope she is a good mom...I knew Bhandi would never make a good mom so I did never breed her..
Let us know how many she has....I hope you have OCY handy since you want her to expell them all..and yes , my best vet still gives it to me and assures me it is better to make sure than have a dead pup three days later and an infection to kill mom and leave me feeding a litter...
My old school ways pay off very well......
Hang in O....

SHE has bred enought in her lifetime and she may not follow the same strict guidelines I do , but no harm to suggest to EVALUATE her , this female, before ever breeding her again...SHE can certainly do that.
She will know more after all the pups are born, and the pups are 2 -3 days old if all is ok with this female, but until then this female exhibits higly suspicus traits I would not want to turn my back on.
Does not matter whether it is environmental or genetics....the chances of raising healthy and trouble free pups matters and a mom transfers, through her milk gland either good healthy digestive exymes or foul ones, and if a female does not exhibit good breeding and motherly traits, why worry and spend time having another litter. I am sure Oleo already knows this but we have some new members reading this thread and it is of great concern they learn what to watch for when birthing any female of our breed.
THIS Is how we eliminate the weaker out of the breed

This is why I seldom post....everyone wants to be a hero and talk about things that are not asked....funniest is I said right out of the gate I wanted people to stay on topic and not give me 5 pages on the labor process...like I don't know after 22 years.
I also did not need people telling me to stay with her or A B and C....ummm duh, I have done it with every bitch, even the ones that would rather rip your face off then look at you. I was not asking for "what to do's" If doing this after 22 years I don't know what to do, well I should not be doing it....but after 22 years I AM going to encounter something I have not experienced and would like to hear others stories....oh no I wanted to see what others experienced...shame on me. I am not ashamed to say "hey I have a first here I woudl like to tell you about it"
Your are just upset I call you on your BS that I do not want to hear what you all know about labor and birthing......I wanted to hear about stories on weird bitches acting different their first time whelping......and if all you got is how I spelt clever...wow you sure showed me up. LOL wow.

And by the way, it’s not the number of years you have been doing this it’s the number of litters you have actually whelped. Which is how many again?
by Jenni78 on 27 July 2012 - 13:07
OP- how you spelled clever isn't all we got. I got a lot more, actually, the more you posted. We didn't want to all-out condemn her a wackjob and shriek "WHY THE HELL ARE YOU BREEDING THAT POS" at the top of our lungs. Good chance she wouldn't act that way with me or YR or Felloffher or Sunsilver, etc. But no, no, you aren't going to find many of us who have had that exact experience with a brood bitch because I'd like to think/hope many of us wouldn't breed a bitch that would be under too much stress to leave her home. You're not alone; there are many pet breeders who breed all sorts of wacky colors and temperaments to peddle off onto unsuspecting buyers who think it's ok for a GSD to need to be tranquilized have a vet come to the house because the dog has such poor temperament that it can't handle the rigors of daily life. We discuss those dogs in other threads- the threads where the poor buyer is learning about their dog's temperament and that they've been duped by the breeder.
Cheers!
Everyone have a great day!
