Some of these dog peddlers are seasoned PRO's at the con game. They know just what to say/not to say etc.
Sadly, everyone in dogs learns by the school of "hard knocks" in some way.
Unless of course you are perfect and know everything.
Then everything is always perfect.

If you are advertising a dog you do not have, and are describing the dogs temperment as if you know the dog personally. That certainly is deceptive, false advertising and needs to be addressed. Some people here have bought one or 2 dogs and haven't been screwed and that's good. What is going on is dealers are advertising dogs for sale on their web site. when a client calls inquiring about the dog the dealer goes on to describe it's temperment, working ability, physical aspects etc... and trys to make the deal. Then he gets the dog and finds out its a piece of shit and sends it to the USA!! Get it?????????? Guarantees, are normally never collected on because of the red tape, lying the " I have to check with my partner" " My computer was down" etc.....bull stories. My question is how can a newbie find the truth before he sends the money?

-ask for current picture of dog with a current time/date stamp. Don't have a camera? well everyone knows someone who has one.
-ask for video of the dog in all sorts of situations such as free in a house, if the dog is good with cats? then show ME, show me the dog laying around or walking around while a cat is nearby. Good with kids? Fine, once again, SHOW ME. Let the dog take their kids face off, not mine.
-ask if they own the dog outright? if so, send me pics of the scorebook, pedigree/registration etc with a current newspaper in the background. I just need to be able to see the name of the paper then I can verify it online.
CALL the registry the dog is registered with an verify that person owns the dog.
Verify hips/elbows as well thru same registry if applicable.
Ask for a copy of a utility bill or other with THEIR name and address on it. You don't need to see how much their light bill is, just that they have an account.
Google earth their land address. Google their name through a court database if you can. Contact Animal Control if applicable and see if they have dogs registered to their home address.
Those are just some of the things we'd recommend. We are fortunate and passed that stage now, but yes, we have also "been had" at some point over the years.

Would someone really not ask a broker if they know the dog personally? I mean...it's a broker. It's like a Realtor. If they show someone a house, they're likely learning about it together or they've seen it once or twice when they previewed it for the client. To act as if they know the house in and out as if they lived in it is unrealistic. Is a Realtor deceptive? The answer is it depends, imho.
I don't buy many dogs. Of the dogs I have had, I have purchased 8 of those dogs sight unseen. So far, so good. I spent a ton of time looking into the dog and the person, checked reviews via all available channels, spoke with other people who had dogs from that person, and evaluated the sources in terms of credibility. YOU, as a buyer, for your OWN SAKE, need to be careful to ask the right questions. People may assume you know things that you may not- like the fact that the dog isn't on their property.
Ask direct questions:
1) Do you know the dog personally?
2) Have you worked or tested the dog?
3) If not, do you know someone who has that I could speak with?
4) Can I see the xrays or pay to have new ones taken at the vet of my choice?
5) Can I see photos from the front, rear, side, and photos of the mouth?
6) Has this dog been bred? If so, what did it produce? Where are the pups? How are joints?
And the list goes on....do your own research. There are lots of ways to check facts. There are lots of resources available to the buyer who wants the education.
Sorry to get off topic, Frank, but I think if those questions were asked prior to purchase, the reason for your original post would be far less common. Buyers would have a better idea what they're looking at, and these are easy questions to determine just how close a breeder/broker is to the dog they are representing. JMPOV.

Joanro:
I think it's typical of hans' shady business practices. Just like when he put a stud dog, which jiri sold, up on his(hans') site under the heading alpinek9 current studs and " our dogs" immediately after jiri removed the dog from his own site. Hans never used the stud or owned it and has a note stating "this dog is no longer in our possession anymore ", the dog NEVER EVER was in his possession. He just has a problem with being truthful. Another questionable practice of his is having dogs' import papers sent to him so that he(Hans) can make copies. Why should Hans need copies of a dog's import papers when he doesn't own it or did not buy it?????? That's all that's needed to send for AKC registration, and it could be a little more than disconcerting knowing that anyone else has access to your dog's import documents.
OK I really do not care about Joan who has obvious agenda but I will answer it for innocent bystanders, even so she will say I am twisting the truth and that it is BS
The dogs which are listed on my stud page are dogs which:
1. I own. persoanlly
2. Or are in pedigrees of the dogs I sell from AlpineK9 or from Jinopo or own personally. Jinopo is a conglomerate of mainly 3 breeding main kennels and number of cooperaticve kennels. The are :
AlpineK9, z Jirkova dvora and Jipo Me. JINOPO is not a kennel. The pictures and description of the dogs I and their pedigrees and videos serve as a source for breeders and buyers of the dogs and pups who have these dogs in their pedigrees.
3. If I say "mine " I mean mine personally. . If I say "our" I mean JINOPO . We cooperate together on breeding dogs and I most definitally have acces to any of these dogs as long as they are in Jiri's Novotny's or Jiri Pokorny's or my possession . I urge anybody to call JINOPO and ask them.
4.If I say that the dogs are not in our possession that means Jiri/Peter Novotny or i sold the dogs and they are not in our breeding program any more but they are in pedigrees of the dogs which we are selling.
Copying papers.
I copy the papers as a service to the clients since the papers get lost from time to time in the mail or elsewhere and it is a mess to get copies from CMKU. That involves 4 months of advertisement of loss papers in dog magazine. Also CMKU does not want to issue a copy if the papers were transferred out of the CMKU registry. AKC accepts copy. Thus if client informers me that they lost their papers I have a copy of these for them. It costs me a lot of money to make color copy of ad size pedigree but it is just a service. This service saved to several of our clients who lost their papers a lot of headache.
Joan would like you to conspiratorially believe that I could register with these papers the dog in my name which is totally ridiculous since in order to register the dog I would need to have the dog's official transfer papers which are issued by CMKU and are off course in the name of the actual owner and not mine.
