Susie, i agree with you that it's in our own hands, but surely the point i was making is that the GSD partnership,  ( unless i have been misreading some of the posts submitted here ) have been speaking on our behalf in a supposedly authoritative,  although some might say a  De Facto  manner,  if that is indeed the case then now is surely the time to give the partnership a full and clear mandate with which to engage the KC in meaningful and reciprocating dialogue.
It is very easy to throw stones, but when so many of us live in Glass houses it is usually unwise, so therefore a full and frank meeting face to face, as opposed to being safe behind the computer screen, will be to everybodies benefit. I am already looking forward to it , if only to meet the people whom i know only by their pseudonyms.

   Regards.

I suggest everyone reads the reports made to date by the GSD Partnership. They contain amongst other things, assumptions, oversights, and recommendations, such as our GSD breed embracing the fundamentally flawed Kennel Club "accredited breeders scheme" with our valuable GSD breed survey as an "accolade" - god help us, god help our breed..

Our breed is fully capable of doing what is done in Holland, and that is using the Kennel Club for our REGISTRATIONS, this will include "export pedigrees" and all matters relating to REGISTRATIONS. This will also provide the opportunity for those that wish to participate in Kennel Club licensed shows and events.

Our Breed should then, as in Holland, produce its own Pedigrees, which should contain ALL the information that WE determine they should contain. WE should also organise GSD Events under WUSV rules (as with the Britsh Sieger), such as REGIONAL EVENTS, agreeing which Club holds them, with geographical and Date considerations. WE could also agree a system of POINTS for certain WINS at these events which could be "accumulated and totaled" for the award of "British Champion".

We could develop our GSD Breed Survey as a cornerstone of "accrediting our GSD for breeding" - and ensure that minimum requirements are met for ALL health Screening Tests, and for entry into our Shows, such as Micro-chipping and DNA Parentage Testing.

I will leave it their for now. Suffice to say that WE could do an outstanding job of looking after our GSD breeds FUTURE, if we followed this MODEL.

Sue, Is not how the partnership handle the health issues with the K.C. changing things for the future! I didn't state what or wasn't their mandate, you have just done that. Missbeeb has just demonstrated she knows very little of who, and what it consists of, and would like more information. How many more are in the same shoes. Sue, the breed desperately needs leadership, and recognized leaders to oversee every issue, and everything that needs putting right, and for future development. Sue, What worries me is the history of communication between different groups within the breed, many with different agenda's. Take this open forum after the B.C. meeting, very few people understood what it was  until reading about it on this thread, many believed it to be a CH show judges meeting and needed clarification. If you look at most of the crusades that has been in the past, they all suffered the same fate! confusion, apathy, multi agenda's, and no leadership or trust between the different factions. Sue you talk about collectively telling the partnership which way to go, It will be a first if that's achieved. So would you re- mortgage you're house on the strength of any success. History tells you no! I hope the meeting goes well, but lets see what people think after the dust has settled and they are driving home. As Paul fondly says, "Susie" I admire you're determination and stamina. regards. Bill Owen.

Thanks Bill, and no I wouldnt put my morgage on anything that has to rely on the collectiveness of most within this breed. That would be tantermount to financial suicide!! lol

To ALL,
However, the fact is every effort has been made to communicate this Open Forum to you. ALL breed club secretarys have had the infomation sent to them via email (or post if they do not have email). The Breed notes in the two Weekly National Dog Papers will inform you within the next couple of weeks. The October BC Mag is delayed due to having to wait to include this information for you (as the arrangements for an Open Forum was only made by the GSD Partnership when they met last week) and of course I have informed some of you on here. As I said earlier I cant really see how much more communication you could be given.

Yes I agree that how the Partnership handle the health issues will change things for the future but their mandate on this was agreed by the GSD Clubs vote at the last Breed Council Meeting and no matter how certain people dont like that fact, a DEMOCRATIC vote was taken and passed UNANIMOUSLY in favour and thats that. However considering the KC's recent attitude along with the fact that these things are ever totally cast in stone, there is absolutely nothing to stop us changing the GSD Scheme back to its original form to be run solely by the Breed itself in conjunction with the BC Surveys, although nothing was stopping the two running in conjunction with each other anyway. i.e Purple pedigree;s for pups from Breed Surveyed parents from both the KC and the BC, what so wrong with that I ask?

Finally, some of you here have talked here about  Leadership, Taking the breed forward into the future, Multi Agendas, Confusion, Apathy, etc etc. BUT NOT ONE ABOUT COMMITTMENT !!!

I will say it again for one last time, NOTHING WILL EVER GET DONE UNLESS  PEOPLE ARE PREPARED TO COMMIT. I REPEAT TALK IS CHEAP, ALL THE IDEA';S IN THE WORLD ARE USELESS UNLESS THE PEOPLE ARE PREPARED TO ADOPT THEM, COMMIT TO THEM AND HELP MAKE THEM WORK.

SO, WHERE ARE ALL THE HANDS??? HAVE YOU RAISED YOURS????? ARE YOU PREPARED TO COMMITT?? ARE YOU PREPARED TO HELP MAKE ALL OUR IDEAS WORK??? OR DO YOU JUST WANT TO CONTINUE WITH APATHETICALLY TALKING, WINGEING AND WRITING ABOUT IT???

ON Saturday 21st November WILL EXPOSE THOSE WHO ARE SERIOUS AND COMMITTED FROM THOSE WHO WANT TO CONTINUE TO DO NOTHING MORE THAN JUST TALK, WINGE AND BE APATHETIC. ASK YOURSELF NOW, BEFORE YOU GO, WHICH ONE ARE YOU ?????

Regards
Sue

democracy does not work just because it votes they way you want it works only when the vote that was passed was carried through which as history tells us this does not happen with the BC (elbow testing an example) what is wrong with most people they see that there votes are a waste of time unless the so called big wigs want it to happen that is not democracy  and until such time that things passed at BC meetings are carried through it will remain the same so the answer is that people are prepared to commit but the commitment does not get carried on  this is my opinion,,  democratic votes have been taken and passed umpteen times with no outcome coming forth its the commitment from the leaders we need even if the vote does not meet with there approval they should still fight it all the way that in my opinion is commitment
