The entire title and testing BS is a hoot. It has nothing to do with producing better dogs. The breeder is who produces better dogs not the IPO groupies. They all buy their dogs in Europe and import them so I fail to see how IPO has contributed anything to the betterment of the GSD as a breed. The entire concept that IPO makes the dog is bass akwards .. the dog makes IPO and that dog is most likely a Mal if you go to the IPO championships.

Kies .. your female has a lot of typical Czech bloodline dogs appearance characteristics. More important is her personality and intelligence. If she is a nice dog and great to live with and be around then she is a winner. Don't waste your time looking for people who love your dog as much as you do .. enjoy her and spend as much time with her as you can .. dogs live short lives. Below is a link to a female that reminds me of your girl. You can ignore the titles on Rolanda's pedigree on the GSD pedigree database .. it looks doctored to me and as far as I know Rolanda was not Sch III or KKL 1 .. so much for titles .. however Rolanda is a great dog (if she is still alive) and she produced some great pups. Look at Rolanda's pedigree and the bloodlines in her pedigree should combine well with your female's blood lines.

bubba, if you truly believe that testing and evaluation dogs for evidence of heritable health issues--and then disqualifying affected animals as breeding candidates--does has nothing to do with producing better dogs, that will make me question every single assertion you've ever made here.

Typical. These people live off the interest accumulated by breeders that do the heavy lifting.

If anyone has lived on the work of the breeders it is the "sport" enthusiasts who pick a dog that can do their particular sport then proclaim all of the dogs that aren't proficient in their particular sport unfit for breeding. The IPO groupies in the USA have imported their dogs from Europe and still do so if IPO is the only path to breeding better dogs then why do the IPO "saviors" compete with imported dogs after 30-40 years of running breed books and claiming to be the saviors of the working (aka biting) breeds. The European breeders of the GSD are apparently saving the GSD breed in the USA, not the IPO groupies that sneer at any GSD without pink papers. The dogs like working with and being with their owners and handlers. That interaction can be luring, KNPV, Mondioring, herding, agility or another 50 other sports or jobs such as cadaver or other scent work as the dogs quite frankly don't care. The dogs just want to have fun and be active .. it's the people who are driven to earn titles and claim superiority that have the plastic trophies sitting on the mantel.

Not true^^^^^ Check this out, and this is only one example of breeders in the USA producing, training and competing.

Joanro .. you are doing a much better job of breeding than this dog .. his sire and dam were both foreign born I believe. His sire was imported as a started 1 year old as I remember. The competitors in IPO want to win the bling more than they want to breed great dogs in the USA. Breeding a first generation offspring of an import is hardly breeding at all .. it is just running on the dogs that were imported. Show me a dog with all American born sire, dam and all 4 grandparents. Joanro you are a lot closer than most in the USA to creating your own kennel with unique bloodlines and that is what breeding is about. Breeding dogs is not about winning IPO, KNPV, or any other sport or foolish man made conceit. A good breeder breeds for the love of the dogs which he or she both gives and receives. The conceit that winners of the BSZS, WUSV, IPO, or any other contest is the best and one of a kind is just a con job. The top 10 at any national or international event are good dogs but not totally unique or above many other dogs who didn't have a great trainer and the money to go to a "no expenses paid" contest in a foreign land. There are lots of good dogs in the GSD world and they don't need pink papers and a IPO title to be fit for breeding. Most of the dogs working in police work presently are not IPO and some are not GSD. I personally don't think all police dogs are great and certainly not all police K9 handlers and trainers are great. Police dogs have a job to do and the good ones do it well but they are not the apex of the GSD world or any breed they might be ( Mal ).

What criteria you people use?
by ILMD on 23 March 2015 - 23:03
vk, a lot of people use BIY dogs to determine breeding.

pretty simple: you take the word of a backyard breeder with no experience and accomplishments to their name; who willfully ignore the most fundamental health cert's along the way while spinning self-serving tales. upside is, when you need to disperse said dog(s) of such distinguished programs for some reason or another, tons of loving, caring homes will open up to take in such fine, fine specimen. there is no need to ever having to dump your dog(s) into the hands of dubious charities. i mean, what do the german's and the SV now about german shepherds, right?
btw, gauner, http://en.working-dog.eu/dogs-details/892220/Gauner-von-der-Zwitscherklause, is a top-notch dog in the employ of the Bundeswehr (with entitlement of a full service dog pension) as well as a high-end sport dog and sought after stud. of course, he's in germany, follows the SV breed requirements including having his hips, elbows and, optionally, back, certified and comes from a long line of health- and performance-tested dogs. hence, ignore him and similarly accomplished dogs and instead buy your dogs from the good people who assure you, without any proof, that their dogs are healthy, loving, caring, and well suited to any and all activities they, the dogs that is, choose to do and have fun doing. just as you should heed the advice of such self-anointed guardians of the breed not to let the dogs bite jute, if you don't want your dog to indiscriminately and frequently maim children. biting french linen apparently is ok, however, so there is always that.
