Ok I have foumd the inscription with a jeweler mag.. IT is signed by P Davis    and the date is 1983.

Many were made in 1982-1983, so it is probably 1983.  I don't think I've seen any as late as '88.  R. Davis is the artist.
 

Sorry, you're right... P Davis.  Looks like he often put P. Davis and the . makes the P look like an R

yes, it takes a geology magnifier to see it...

Thanks again  and it means a lot to me...do not care how little it cost...it is the idea and the gift in it.

Some day my kids will appreciate all the GSD things we share.

I also have an outside banner , very big and it is in shreds

I will post a pic of it , when new and if anyone can find me one like it I will buy them one also..THE store who my daughter bought it from said they donot do dogs anymore...she would not even try to find it for us...
