Must be those big muscles that I am seeing.  23-24kg would not be too heavy for most 8 month old bitches.  Swimming won't hurt her hips at all.  Just be careful not to run her too much on hard surfaces or have her jumping excessively.  I would not worry about supplements at this age.  As long as she is being fed an adequate diet and kept at a good weight (even a little lean would be preferable to too heavy), she should be fine.

Do you think that the left hip is ok?i am afraid of the depth and the development of the socket,mainly..:(

Hard to say for sure without an x-ray in the proper position.

thank you!
I wait for more opinions bad or good!
My personal opinion depending her age ,is that these hips are Normal-Fair by OFFA.But i would say Fair because i want to be hard with my girl!

The distiction between good and fair is of no consequence so why not be kind to your dog??

by Blitzen on 08 August 2014 - 14:08

Normal means normal......fair, good, excellent, all normal ratings for a GSD. My fair has never produced less than a good or an A1 and many of her progeny have been xrayed. Many times the only difference between a good and a fair is the quality of the ray and whether or not the dog is sedated. A dog is more likely to get a better rating if not sedated than if it were. Don't get hung up on ratings.

generally ...do you think that these hips are in danger?this is my big fear!

by christodoulos on 08 August 2014 - 17:08

bubbabooboo...if her hips are Normal ,i will accept the wish of her breeder,to use her in breeding. If Hips's evaluation is Fair or lower ,i will not put her in any breeding programm.
German shepherd dog is a breed with major Hips's problems, and in my opinion only the Excellent or Good should be used in breeding.
thank you

Blitzen,She was sedated,,

That's good that the dog was sedated. .

Fair is normal, it's up to you if you use a fair for breeding. Would you use an A2 or a fast normal? I've been in dogs since 1969 and I can tell you that I have used 2 fairs over those years and neither have ever produced less than a good.
