I would be fine with them, but if you want a second opinion submit them to the OFA.

Sorry I did not see the age the first time around; I try to give each dog a first time consideration, but definitely I would submit to OFA for second opinion on this dog. Good luck Nan

Dog hips have been evaluated by SV. There is quite some rumor that the only vet that grades hips there Dr Tellhlem has done quite some "mistakes". I heard cases of friends that went for re-evaluation and the result came back the same as they sent the same x-rays to a smaller vet clinic that is supervised by the same vet....:). I also heard that when x-rays are taken outide Germany he is over-strict with the gradings. Maybe this is not so. Maybe he is just with x-rays taken abroad but lenient with x-rays from German vets,,,who knows. Here is a mail from a German friend that breeds dogs there:

Dr- Tellhelm is the evaluator for elbows, not only for shepherds but for labradors, goldens and so forth. He is very strict, I have gone directly to him for x-rays and he is a very friendly man who will explain the evaluation in all aspects. He also evaluates hips, but he is not the only evaluator as he is in elbows, it is also done in other clinics as well. I do not think he is overly strict in hips, the vet I usually x-ray with is much stricter, his evaluation of my dogs hips were always stricter than the evaluation I got from the SV, I agree that these hips are correctly rated with NZ, the heads do no look correct and I doubt that the correct norberg angle is achieved.

A3 is a passing grade for breeding . People assume A3 equates to OFA bordeline mild as OFA says this. I assume it means A3. They use the Norberg Angle. I use the SV as they IMO are fair in their evaluation and I have always gotten the grade that the dog deserved. This is why I use them no speculation

B. Andersen. A3 if evaluated by OFA equals ( roughly) mild HD. Now what? If you use OFA mild HD for breeding people will crucify you. If you use Noch zugelassen (A3), as it is used in Germany all the time, for breeding all is peachy ducky. Go figure. Then you can add to it that non of the systems improved the HD record and that so called improvement is caused by more sophisticated people who know how to read the x rays will not send it for evaluation if it is obviously not passing. So what are we doing here?
