I always like to think that God has his reasons for everything he does. Your Willow did not suffer and as tragic as her passing was for you I have a feeling she went peacefully and quickly and allowed you to not have to make a decision that you would have wrestled with the rest of your life. Godspeed Willow, it sounds like you had a wonderful life.

Sorry for your loss Lily. I know she's in a better place. These GSD's give us so much,
in such a short amount of time. I hate the fact, there life span is so short. So we continue
to get another, only to be crushed again and again. Hang in there. It will get better. Take Care

I am so sorry for the hole left in your life without your Willow. She was a light in the storm for you and your family, I know. We lost our beloved Jonah on the 6 of Sept. He had began the common struggle with his hips as well as an ear infection that just wouldnt break, and eventually robbed him of his hearing. Finally we had to let him go in peace so he would suffer no longer. He made it to the old age of 14, and was convinced he was still a puppy for 131/2 of those years. We will never be able to explain to someone about losing a shepherd. He wasnt just a dog, but more a confidant holding our secrets and fears in his stoic silence. Although he rarely made barking noises, he loved to sing along with Bob Dylan forming his mouth to shape a sound like "ohh wohh wohh". His presence was loud with beauty, grace and pride. He never failed to bring a smile to my face, the ever consummate handsome clown prince, and I will never be able to repay the gift he gave us with him being a part of our lives. I, as you could go on and on with stories of his life, but I will share just one: I remember when he was just about a year old, stumbling over his clumsy feet, and testing his voice, he would watch me get ready for work. I would be getting dressed and I would toss my socks over my shoulder until I put them on. One day it seemed he realized that when I would toss those socks on my shoulder it meant I would be leaving for the day, and his playmate would be gone for a while. Finally, one day I was getting dressed and as I threw the socks over my shoulder as I always have, he suddenly leaped forward and stole the socks right off of me and with almost a childish delight ran away tripping over and dragging these long socks. Thus began the game of "wheres daddy's socks buddy?"........So many stories.   I miss you my friend. I will forever love you. Rest in peace Willow and play in the field with my Jonah. Hes a good boy.

What a lovely story about Jonah, which I so enjoyed reading, a wonderful boy, reaching such a fabulous age for you. He is so handsome, i'm sure she will be flirting with him  right now!

He sounds a real character like Willow & all the other GSDs that have touched the hearts of everyone on here.  I so appreciate all the kind comments, thankyou so much.

It's stilll hard for us, but i'm beginning to come t terms with it, now that I see to feel her happy presence around the house again.

It always hurts so much when they go......My heart is with you.
