I've only ever had about 3 people get Qira's breed right.

I had someone once ask if she was a Scotty terrier. I'm like... "...what?"

Usually people either think she is a lab mix, wolf mix, or ask if she is a police dog/K9.... that is what we get most often when people do try and guess her breed. *Usually* people just flat out ask what she is and when I tell them they say "Really? I didn't know they came in black!" or "I've never seen a shepherd like that!" I've only had one person try and argue with me that they don't come in black. They get a genetics lesson, before I get fed-up and just tell them to go Google it when they get home.

I've gotten the military dog thing. Like ALL sables are military dogs. Ok with me, but she's not that trained.

RLHAR, honestly I'd take that one as a compliment in a way.  Not to mention it's not some crazy person wanting to run up to your dog and pet it.

Dawulf, they don't come in black....you have a Shepherd/lab mix.....duh....lol  Yeah, I mentioned that to a guy today, that they came in black and he was confused at first.  We talked for a while and he realized I knew a lot more than him (he has black/tan Shepherds that are well over 100 lbs) regarding the breed and he came to believe me when I mentioned the colors, history, etc of the breed.  Finally someone willing to listen.

clc29, that's how it is around here.  Those are the only possible colors Shepherds can come in in many people's eyes.

Oh I did!

To be perfectly honest I've never had anyone run up to my dogs and just start petting.   I've always had people politely ask if they could pet my dogs or give them a treat and I feel a little bad because my female is now very aloof about getting pets and will look off in the other direction, while my male has never accepted treats from strangers.

Oh yeah, GSDGuy.... that always comes next. "She's so small!" "Our/My friends/My daughters/etc. GSD is twice that size." "Are you sure she's purebred?"

"Is that a Malinoise?" (I'm spelling it how they pronounced it, lol)  This is Klaire when she was 11 yrs old.

I'll have to make 2 more posts....it's only letting me upload 1 photo per post

Oh yeah,  we do get some nonsense don't we ?  Like others, I've had the 'Labrador cross' remarks about
black dogs - and even bi-colours - and had to smile at all the 'Police dog' comments and questions  (never
yet had one mistaken for a Military dog, but I think that's because dogs used by UK armed services are
much less in the public eye ?) addressed to my GSDs no matter what colour they are.  I don't think I ever
met a GSD breeder though who didn't realise there's a colour range;  owners & exhibitors, yes.

EuroShepherd, how anyone could take Klaire for a Mali is beyond me !

I can see Mal in Auggie's face and build. Coloring says there is at least some GSD in there, but color aside, that's not half as crazy as these other ones.

It was suggested by the vet that I spay Capri to prevent any future litters since she's a mixed breed. This was after she was mistaken for a fat male.
