OGBS, would you mind listing all the dogs' pedigrees of the dogs you know with back problems caused by Norbo? That would be very helpful, I think. Thank you, Joan.
by joanro on 17 July 2012 - 20:07
Also, how are the " back problems" manifested?

by OGBS on 17 July 2012 - 20:07
No, I won't.
Do your own homework.
This is why I hate posting anything on here of any value.
People get offended, regardless of what you say.
It's important that people know the good, bad, and the ugly about dogs they are using in breedings.
That is how we better the breed, as opposed to just accepting the "legendary" status of some dogs and running with it.
I don't have anything against Norbo.
I know people with dogs sired by him and even more with people that have Norbo as a grandsire. They are nice healthy dogs.
Others are not.

Nobody will post any pedigrees here!
I will not talk about a nice dog that has his place in working dog pedigree. I will not give an opportunity to anybody to twist things around.
My opinion can matter or can be swept under the rug, honestly I don't give a shit... .
Norbo is a nice dog, has his place! One has to keep in mind things linger in every line, skip a generation sometimes and sometimes, never show. I am not going to blame anything on Norbo, I will blame everything on genetics!
Good luck and I am sure Joanro's litter is a nice one.

We have done it twice 4 on 3. High hunt and fight quick to change to defense if needed very quick good prey but work better in active prey love the fight over the jacket. Just got in from training with on Handler oriented easy to train. Not everyone does Sch we have two doing PSA and more doing CCDL. Hell most people just do not work their dogs period here in the US they spend more time on the computer. Healthy dogs no short front legs actually most are rangy very athletic will take no crap from strangers but overall great dogs . Norbo produced best IMO going to either side of his pedigree back to Car ( prey) or Titus (defense) or line breeding as he himself was a outcross.Pedigree link is one on the suit at 11 months and is no joke picture would not load here. The picture shown here is of his older full brother training with LEO in SW AZ at 18 months. He is not short legged nor bad backed he is tall and rangy. These dogs really think as well.

OGBS, I certainly am not offended by your post. If you have concrete information regarding " the ugly", it would be helpful if you expounded upon your statement...... That's all. I would venture to say that dogs presenting health problems have many, many dogs in their ped that are recognizable and well known that may not necessarily be responsible for problems. Since you mentioned this, I figured it'd be nice if you provided the "rest of the story" . Partial information is how rumors get started.

You describe my dogs as well, B Anderson.

Joan,
Did you consult anyone prior to these breedings that knows a lot about Norbo?
Like somebody from the Czech Republic or Slovakia?
Here is an interesting tidbit of info for you to swallow.
Take a look at the the 29 dogs listed on Jinopo's web site that are breeding dogs.
This includes 10 males and 19 females.
Do you find it at all odd that only one dog, a female, of those 29 dogs has Norbo in the pedigree?
Think about this. This is the man that made Norbo "legendary".
I would think he would want Norbo in a lot of his breeding dogs, no?
He isn't opposed to having the same dog in his breeding dogs' pedigrees.
You will find that Dargo Ha Ja Da is in many of his breeding dogs' pedigrees.
Something to think about as you research this.

That's very nice, OGBS, and there are many other dogs Jinopo made "legendary"(you seem stuck on that word, I haven't ever used it, myself) which don't appear in their current dogs as well. And FYI, yes, I did consult with the experts before doing the breedings. Thank you for all your input, I think you have expended your useful information on my behalf. Have a pleasant afternoon.

Folks, Folks, Folks, there is no reason for anyone to get offended at all. One of the reasons more useful information isnt posted is because people have their "almighty LIKES" and cannot be objective about dogs or lines that they like. Pfui.....every dog and line has other dogs that they are incompatible with.....every dog! If we keep that in mind, we can share information and STILL like what we have experienced. It saddens me to see people get so personal about information.....there was good stuff being exhanged, may not be the experience of one but still can be the experience of another. Some of our temperaments is worse than we claim we want to breed for....lol
