Just thought I would throw my two cents in on this as I found this breeder to be one of the RUDEST people I've ever spoken with.  I contacted her last year some time because she had a beautiful older puppy for sale that was supposedly show quality.  She returned my email giving me a price of $5,000 but never even told me her(the breeder's) name.  I told her the price was too high for me.  A week later she wrote to say she had dropped the price to $3,500.  This was still higher than I wanted to spend.  I asked her to at least send me some video and current photos (other than seated ones) so I could assess the conformation quality.  She told me curtly she didn't have the time to do such things.  I told her there was no way I was going to blindly accept someone's opinion on show quality and would not be interested without video and photos to support it.

She returned an email telling me she was blocking my emails and that I was just a window shopper.  She said many nasty things and said she would never send one of her elite, world, top-notch bred dogs to someone such as myself.  Keep in mind we have never met, spoken by phone, or anything else.  This was simply a response to asking her to provide video and proof that the dog in question was indeed show quality.

As a side note, I remember her listing a breeding from that Dona dog.  In it she said something to the effect that the dog was one of the toughest biting females in Germany.

tedebear12- that is same thing she told these people ( In it she said something to the effect that the dog was one of the toughest biting females in Germany. )

I was thinking about e-mailing her and letting her know the temperment of this dog once I do the evaluation. I love how she states the male has  a BH and is a Medical Alert Dog?

She also states that all of her dogs live in her house....that would be 9 GSD's living in your home? Seems like a lot of dogs in 1 house! Also she says she breeds for quality not quantity yet she has 7 breeding females? If she breeds them every year that is A LOT of puppies....jmo.

Cavalier K9: From my interactions with her, I don't think she will care.  She appears to have lots of breedings and puppies and she used to list classified ads on her all of the time.  Plus, she has a huge ego and appears to only be in it for the money and becomes defensive if you ask anything at all.  Really sorry to hear that someone spent so much and is now paying the price.  Hopefully it can be corrected.

i think under the right hands the dog could come out of this and be a great dog , i  think its a fear thing and if he is feeding off the lady , well then there is part of the problem. its good people hear about another breeder no to bother with.

In my limited experience (and I would bet) that it is highly unlikely that the behavior is genetic and that it didn't begin until now.

If it's true that the dog just started showing aggression at a year an a half, there are many, many possibilities  as to why...  Serious change/stress in a dog's environment: i.e. financial, health or family problems, etc..

My guess is that the dog wasn't properly trained and socialized as a puppy and this behavior began to manifest itself at about 5 months of age - now, when they realize/admit there is a problem - it will probably require intervention from a professional to fix. (Standard "one year old GSD free to good home" scenario).  I would highly recommend an evaluation performed by an experienced (good) GSD trainer/behaviorist (no pet store dog trainers).

In the meantime, I wouldn't allow that dog off-leash in the company of visitors, strangers, etc.

Seriously???
It's a frickin' show dog!

CavalierK9,
The behavior of this dog, just like in Elkoor's post, sounds like a nerve-bag.
Hopefully you can help this lady.
If not, get the dog in the hands of someone that can handle its issues.
Otherwise this dog will end up at the pound or dead.

Sound like this woman needs to sell her husband for $5000.00
and find a new husband..first

THEN  SELL  the dog to a trainer and go find a well bred dog.

Biting from behind like that is fear based.  I would think it was genetic but if I had a dog like that, I would have a moral obligation to keep it, keep it under control and properly trained.  Price is absurd.

Pretty sure this breeder just had an out of court
settlement for one of her dogs mauling a serviceman
that was at their home doing some work.

At least one person she had trained with in the past
had been brought in to the lawsuit by the injured party
as an 'expert witness'  against her

The case was settled out of court.
