"Swoopers" - love it!!

Its actually very odd, this thing about adult reactions to GSDs, & crossing the street etc.  Everyone (bar just about nobody)
seems to want to say hello to Taz while we are out.  He is a big, tall, bright red & black dog.
Just about nobody ever wanted to go near Vida, my bitch before Taz.  She was a middle-size & strength, below max. height for a girl, still saddle-marked but much more mixed in colours, lots of breakthrough silvering, creamier legs & underbody.

Now this was fine, because Taz likes to meet everybody; Vida was ...  less keen.

I've often wondered whether this was because her colouring was on a subliminal level more  'wolf - like' than his ??

LOL Conspicuous, seriously. :D I have not had people cross the road when I was walking a GSD ever. Yes to rotties and dobes and a lot of people in the UK are doing it with our husky but someone told me that may be because they are more used to Akitas and just see the tail. I like to think they are actually crossing the road when they see my husband lol.

Words usually issued from peoples mouths when they see Evo

"Thats not a dog, thats a bloody bear!"

"OMG it's a wolf"

I seriously believe it's the size of his head! My old showlines male had a huge blocky head and he got the same reaction!  A guy practically jumped through a hedge to get away from him when he was only 6 months old!!  I used to say 'It's a puppy' regular!

I have seen Evo 'Lock people up' with 'the stare' and they've averted their eyes and shuffled on.  I've seen dogs cower when they've walked past him, and on more than one occasion had dogs barrel upto him full of fire and stop dead 2m away and refuse to come closer.  He oooozes presence out of every pore!

I love The Stare! My last pup had it as well. Would even make me a little uncomfortable at times lol.

His mother could stop me dead in my tracks, she only ever did it twice and both times was when she had pups, I was worming them or clipping their nails and she'd say 'Enough'  - i wasn't scared of her but i wasn't stupid and she got her baby back and I'd carry on later after she'd made sure all was well.

Ambii -
Oh, no, the two I was walking at the time weren't long-coats.  I think it was the red-gold heads wot dun it!  He was very appreciative of them, even tho' clearly also very scared !

Haha I'm with you

Had a little boy come toddling over towards evo yesterday evening.... all I could hear was 'Daddy, doggie' small child got closer and closing singing about the doggie.... then stopped and said 'Big doggie' and ran back to his daddy.  Evo gave me his 'what did i do look'

Anyway after much coaxing I managed to get daddy to carry small child over and come say hello to the big doggy.  Took bribery to get small child to actually touch big doggie... but me thinks; small child shall overcome his fear as he gets a bit bigger, when doggies not head and shoulders taller than him LOL
