VKGSDs

by VKGSDs on 15 November 2011 - 21:11

Yes those belong in front.  Conformation ratings as well as a few other titles (at least as far as AKC goes) appear in front of the dog's name.  On this database they are put there automatically.

well Ill be.  I had no idea and thanks for letting me know.
I am so use to see dogs by just their name only on here with under it in red it showing the rating and on working-dog.eu they only show the name.

You can certainly omit the conformation ratings and instead enter them as titles so they appear below but if you put them in the spot the form calls for they appear in front of the dog's name, as they will on an official printed pedigree.

Yep, Ace. Conformation ratings in front, titles behind;-)

I hear you... but there are SO MANY other things to get upset about than nontitles.... be it BH, CGC, HIS, TDI, PPD or whatever.

Folks who regularily train and title multiple dogs are less focused on listing every last activity that their dogs get into, but newer members who are just starting out with their first dog in training are going to be excited by every exclamation point that is added.  I can still remember  my first leg on my first CD in obedience... and how excited I was.  If I had been putting that dog's pedigree on the Database I probably would have been one of the folks you are refering to.  Instead o' being angry try a big ole grin at someone being really into their dog. Who knows in 10 years might be the National Champion in the making....  :)

@ vhleigbiter:
As someone who also puts in the time and effort to train, title, and compete with my dogs, I actually own a GSD that is “PPD titled”, and I can’t say that I worked less hard to pass these PPD trials than I did to get my SCHH III, IPO III, IPOFH, FH II, FR I, CD and TD on the same dog . I may have a little more experience now, but at the time it took significant commitment and training to learn the sport.

PPD stands for Personal Protection Dog and is a "title" offered through K9 ProSports (http://www.k9prosportsonline.com/rules.html). I am not sure if the organization is still active to date, but the principles are comparable to PSA.

Just saying …

Here's a site that might help them. I have only had my pup in Schutzhund since February. She is 10 months. I have been fooled several times with my GSD's. I was SO happy when I came across a breeder (Von Der Finn Kennels) that I could trust! I have learned a lot from this site and your blogs, thank-you kindly!

Well I stand corrected, I never knew anything about K9 Prosports. I looked at some videos on Youtube, interesting training. Martial arts for dogs, never heard of that.

Here's a video of their champion from 2010. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAMzdtl052g&feature=related

Dbeden01, that must have been an incredible dog to get all of those titles, as well as a huge effort on your part. Care to share some videos of the dog, I'd be interested in learning about him (or her). Its nice to see GSDs competing in ringsports at a high level.

There is nothing wrong with putting down things like CGC or BH, I think that any trainer experienced or not should be happy to let the world know their dog has reached that level in their development. My opinion is that to get any of those dog and handler have reach a point as a partnership and well brag away, it does no harm and well it is not like NOTHING was done to get those titles.

Do you need BH to do IPO/RCI/BHP?

My personal experience is many people's first title is BH, so there is somewhat of an emotional attachment to the title, even if it is later over-written by SchH1.
