That price is about right.

Nothing wrong with importing.  If thats the dog you want.....go get it.
Hopefully you can find something cheaper but price of oil and all doesn't help your cause

Apo...what would consider a fair price in Euros then?

Remember price includes everything (crate, shots, transport costs to the airport, etc.) for a 2 yr old (probably around 85 lbs.) from Germany to L.A.

There is http://www.uship.com I used this for horses and I was previously going to use it for a puppy at one point... I would definitely check references etc if you chose this route;)

Also I was recently quoted a shipping quote from petair and it was $1650 but this was because they had to drive to pick the dog up... http://www.petair.de/html/home.html

@Ace952; Through Pet-Air: no more than Euro 800 for the large crate including all (crate/docs/flight).

Now many breeders/sellers in Germany will charge to deliver the dog to Frankfurt as its a day gone on the road + fuel. In some cases though (depending on the price of the dog sold) the sellers absorb this and its fair enough too...But that figure of  1,115 Euro doesnt compute, even if the seller was driving from Denmark to Frankfurt!!!

Note: Pet-Air...or any transport company will charge very high prices for pick-up of the dog in Germany; reason being that the company has to make a two-way trip; try to negotiate with the seller - this is the best way.

You have to be very unlucky to fall in the hands of someone who is looking to skim on the transport fees and add it on to the price of the dog sold...90% of sellers are pleased to close on the dog sold and there is no need to get greedy!

thanks everyone for their inputs.

I got the shipping down 200 euros more as breeder found a friend to take the dog to the airport.  I was unaware of the transportation fee.  thx apo for the insights.

As far as the pics, its not my dog as of yet so i don't think it would be appropriate for me to put up pics.
