I understand that the meeting arranged - to follow the Breed Council meeting on the 21st Novenber is for GSD Championship Judges.
This is an extract from Sheila Rankin's breed notes in OUR DOGS.
"the GSD partnership of B/C, League & BAGSDs believes that the best way to respond to the KC is to solicit the views of all KC Champ Show judges on the 21st November 2009 at the New Invention Methodist Church Hall, Willenhall, near Wolverhampton. This meeting will take place after the usual B/C meeting and I will need Judges who are approved to give CCs in this Breed to let me know if they will be attending. Please reply to me by 10th November by phone, fax or email,"

That has changed David following a Partnership meeting. It is now an Open Forum for all concerned in the Breed. Same address,

I agree with Paul's analysis of where the breed was! is! and where it will end up. We talk nearly every day, and the conversation has developed into a depressing, and downturn to the degree we, really believe the worst possible outcome for this breed. How long will exhibitors travel 2/3/4 hours to a show, to find there is 2 in their class. The G.S. Partnership has not established any authority that is credible, or any respect that people will listen to them. I talk to many people who are not looking forward to showing their dogs next year. They are as happy to sit in the garden and enjoy watching their dogs. The open forum after the B.C. meeting will be interesting! When people are driving home after, I wonder what thoughts will be going through their heads! Another total waste of time! or total satisfaction on the outcome, The partnership had better get it right, and convince the meeting they are the team to change things for the future, or if they fail, they may well be the final nail in the coffin of this breed. regards, Bill Owen.

OK... this has probably been posted on here and been in the BC magazine, but please indulge me... the Partnership consists of, who exactly? I mean, how many and their names please.
I hope I will be able to attend this open forum and I hope that you are wrong Bill... if we can have real faith in the Partnership, we need to back them 100% to give them the best chance possible to get it right for all of us.

Bill, changing things for the furture is not the remit of the GSD Partnership, they were given a mandate to represent us at the Kennel Club on HEALTH issues ONLY, NOT to make ANY other decisions on everthing appertaining to or concerning the furture of our breed, be that with or without the KC. WE by that I mean ALL OF US COLLECTIVELY as the custodions of our breed now need to gather together to collectively come to the important decisions we are now required to make.

This is the reason the GSD Partnership have organised this Open Forum, the KC issued a letter to us in July on Health Issues, hence the reason the GSD Partnership is still running with it, but really does anyone actually believe Double Handling is a Health Issue? That being the case would it not be considered presumptious of the GSD Partnership if they made decisions on such issues as they had not been mandated to do so on our behalf? Well I tell you, I for one would be Yelling from the rooftops if they had. So in my opinion they have acted absolutely correctly, the issues in question will be discussed first by GSD Club reps at the BC Meeting which will take place at the same venue (a.m) prior to the Open Forum. Calling a meeting for all interested parties is the first step to making any of the major decisions that inevitably will soon need to be made, the KC want our answer to their questions which they claim to be based on Health but which are clearly disguising much more than that. Therefore in order to reply with an authority of democratic majority the GSD Partnership have called for an Open Forum to be held after the BC Meeting, this meeting requires bums on seats but much more importantly it requires total committment or in other words ACTUAL NAMES ON PAPER !! So whatever is decided you will have put your name to and if you cant or are not prepared to do that then I suggest you dont bother to attend, enough of those only prepared to make noise, talk is cheap, action holds all the value, so act now and sign your name to the future of our breed.
Why do I say it was not up to the GSD Partnership to make this decision alone well - You might go to the Travel Agent to book your holiday but would you allow them to chose it for you as well? I doubt it, but if they did would you be prepared to take it, moreover pay for it if you didnt approve of their choice? Of course not. Well the GSD Partnership have done as much as they can at the moment, the KC's current stance has put the process into stalemate at present and preventing any further progress been make until WE COLLECTIVELY tell the GSD Partnership what road we now wish them to take. REMEMBER whatever they do they have to be certain that when they look around WE COLLECTIVELY are STILL FOLLOWING !!! Absolutely no point in them choosing a route the majority of us decide not to follow them down. This is Democracy and unfortunately such decisions and changes (if they are needed) dont happen overnight and will never happen unless we are all prepared to forge ahead together. Thats it in a nutshell, turn up, prepare to sign up and committ, or dont bother to turn up at all, the time for our breed is running out, the time for our breed is now, our breed has no more time to spend on indecisive fence sitters.
