Lol. I reread the original without the period, and it made sense. Haha. Punctuation can change meaning completely:-)

Joan, the complexity comes in with making more of 'em, not just owning them!
Though I do feel they are often 'too much dog' for some dog owners.
Well said, Keith.

Breeding for personal wants, likes is what got the ASL to where it is today.

Sorry, wrong thread.

I still believe you do what you want. You follow your heart and soul. I never once said you just do it without putting the time in or without due diligence. If every breeder listened to the naysayers they would never get started in the first place. And that includes every breeder on this thread and probably a breeder most of us got a dog from in the past, present or future. You want an SV style system, then follow your heart and soul, I would and I do.

Blitzen, not necessarily true. There were many people who didn't like the stretched backs, the increased angulation, bitchy heads on the males, the poor bone with feet the size of 50-cent pieces, and the banning of schutzhund and bitework. They were forced to leave the breed, or go to the SV dogs, because what they bred was no longer able to win in the show ring. And if you can't show and title your dogs, you're just a PET breeder...
And that's why Tina Barber wound up starting the Shiloh Shepherd breed. Too bad THAT didn't work out very well... she watered down the temperaments too much!
