In my experience, puppies who have alot of longer hairs around the outside and coming out of the inside of the ears are a long coat. The hair is usually very fine and soft. If you bought this puppy for a pet or to work, there is nothing wrong with being a long coat but alot of people do not think they should be bred as it is a fault due to a lack of undercoat. I once was at a Regional Show and saw a female SchH3 Kkl 1 dog going for her lifetime Kor be regected because of the length of her coat.

thats what i thought but the inside of the ears has no long hairs it is just the out side ,the rest of his coat seems to be short around his legs and everywhere else is short but still puupy fur ..the top of his back is starting to grow his adult fur which is coarse

IS IT POSSIBLE BECAUSE HE HAS BEEN INSIDE HIS WHOLE LIFE THAT HE HAS NOT SHED ALL THE PUPPY FUR I SAW HIS SISTER WHO HAS BEEN IN A KENNEL OUTDOORS AND HER COAT WAS LIKE THAT OF A ADULT

Not sure if its possible that your pup is keeping its puppy coat longer because its inside because I haven't raised any out in a kennel. I suppose it could be though. Also if there is no long hair coming from the inside of his ears he might be just plush but without seeing pictures it is hard to know... GSDfan Molly is to cute.
