What is your favorite coat colour that is in the gsd? I really love the look of the "liver" GSD's and am debating to get one :)

So out of all the coat colours, what is your favourite?

To each their own on preference, but Liver is NOT standard....it is a fault and genetic fault at that. Anyone who breeds or purchases for this specific fault only adds to the failure of the breed.
Any color WITH IN standard I like.  It is the DOG I like, not the color though I do like Sables.

Pure black is my Fave hands down then bi color (true bi color) my 3rd would be very dark sable that carry the black recessive :)

Oooooh I love the liver, and the panda, but like only on really really large dogs, like 28 inches at the shoulder man.    Those are like my absolute favourite!

I think it is the gay dogs that have the best coloured coats.

Brandi... but what about the people who just wish to own a pet that looks good in their eyes?
Yeah maybe not breed from certain colours/types if you plan to use the pups in the show ring etc... but why not allow breeders who breed for the pet market and those who breed for show or for other reason, can breed their standards?

by beetree on 22 December 2011 - 00:12

Georgie, there is one standard, that is why. No one is stopping any of those breedings, they just are not allowed to be called desirable. That certainly does not mean they would not be desirable for some some people.

I dont think there is any shortage of breeders breeding for "rare" colors......
