Ron Hudson

by Ron Hudson on 02 July 2010 - 21:07

Based on the total absence of hair tufts in the ears, and the fact he doesn't show tufts of hair protruding out between the toes, I would say he is definitely not a coated puppy. There are many ways to describe ones impression of how a standard coat may appear to them but again we go back to of variations of how coats vary from one another but still fall within in the realm of a standard coat.
My male has a very nice plush coat and is often mistaken for long coat by the many people who have seen in in person. However, being that long coats are a derivative of two recessive genes he has yet to thrown any coats after over 4 years of breeding.

Ronn, There are true long stock coats that do not have tufts or feathers. Yes, they USUALLY have the tufts and feathers, but not always. There are those on this board that have shown pictures of their own dogs that are LSCs which don't have tufts or feathers.  As far as this pup goes, sometimes it takes a while for the tufts and feathers to grow. Hopefully the OP will show future pics of the pup and then we'll know for sure
The best,

Pup is definately a long coated pup...YOu can tell by the shape of his face..One thing I learned from several long coat longtime breeders is the one sure clue, besides the other obvious clues.

could you post the pedigree? I bet you have a well known carrier in the second or third generation??
